Great StayPosted Jun 16, 2014
Cons: Add elevator
Super location and great breakfast. Great opportunity to visit with others. Only drawback was no elevator and we were on 3rd floor.

Room 303Posted May 31, 2014
Pros: Proximity to downtown
Cons: Electronic locks
Location: This is on the west edge of campus, so there are tons of things to do nearby.
Nice place, but the loft is only a bed and a TV. You don't need it if there are just 2 of you staying there unless you don't like each other very much. Check-in and out was super easy, the breakfast they serve was pretty tasty, and the house itself is super cool. If it isn't booked they leave the doors open to the vacant rooms, each of which has unique furnishings which is pretty neat.

Cons: I wasn't able to figure out how to run the shower so I took a bath instead. Maybe a nice sign for people like me? :)
Location: Perfect for staying while visiting students at ISU.
We were fortunate that there was 1 room available to stay here while we were in Ames. We will be staying here again in th future. It was lovely!

Cozy & comfortable!Posted Apr 7, 2014
Close to campus, convenient. Beautiful accommodations. Breakfast was wonderful--Chef Carl did a great job! Love the availability of snacks in the dining room, the decor, the helpfulness of the staff. Will definitely come back!

Visit to AmesPosted Mar 31, 2014
First time I have ever stayed at a bed and breakfast. Greatly appreciated the made-to-order breakfast as well as the calm, beautifully decorated rooms throughout the place.

Quiet and central B&B in AmesPosted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: The accessibility, privacy, comfort.
Location: Located in NW corner of Ames, close to University and not far from the golf course.
I have stayed at the Iowa House about a half-dozen times in the past three years. I have also stayed at several motels in the area. I much prefer the Iowa House, for several reasons. Even though the rates are not especially low for a B&B, there is much in its favor. The privacy is excellent, as is the security. There are no pets. Smoking is not permitted. It is close to the University. The parking is adjacent to the building. Morning newspapers are provided. Coffee or hot water for tea are available at all hours. And the breakfasts are generally very good.

Nice b and b; close to all the action!Posted Feb 18, 2014
I really enjoyed the architecture. The bathroom had a nice shower with plenty of hot water! The heat was good and the room was quiet. The breakfast was good on Saturday morning too! The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Loved it! A hidden gem in Ames.Posted Jan 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Our room was clean and beautifully furnished. The staff was genial and helpful, but not intrusive. The house itself is lovely. We are big fans of the Arts & Crafts period, so this was a real treat for us.
