“Excellent hotel”

It was easy to book through Expidia. Had a last minute travel need and found a reasonable rate for a hotel through Expedia!

“Fun In Ames”

Went back to Ames to hook up with some college friends of mine and found this hotel online. Was everything I needed for the night. A comfy bed and a noon check out time.

“not impressed”

The price was reasonable so keep that in perspective. However, they used way too much deodorizer and it did not smell great! The lighting in the room was worse then an office and felt overwhelming. The room was very small,but the bed was comfortable!

Area recommendations

Iowa State University has a beautiful campus! Visit there.

Fuji the Japanese Steak house is near the hotel and it was really good.

“good place to stay”

I have in the past mainly stayed in Holiday Inn Expresses and other hotels in that company's group of hotels. The Ames Microtel provides a smaller room, but it is more than adequate. The television was good, the bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was fine. The price was about half of a Holiday Inn Express. If you aren't going to use the pool and you aren't picky about breakfast, what is provided is fine. I will probably book Microtels in the future.

Getting there

After you get off of I-35 headed toward Ames, take the first exit at Davis. It is right there after you turn right at the first light or stop sign.

“horrible”

the hotel smelled like it had been flooded and they try to cover it up with air freshiners. They forgot to clean our room when we left for the day.

“Great value”

This hotel is an extremely good value. Rooms were clean, staff was very helpful. Continental breakfast was more than adequate. Road noise is an issue.

“More than I expected”

The hotel is great but located very near an interstate that results in noisey rooms if your on the interstate side. Would recommend this hotel to others.
