College Road Trip

Posted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: Very comfortable room.
Cons: You can hear people in the hallway - needs some soundproofing around the door. Not a problem for us because it was not particularly busy.
Location: Village of Amherst is within one mile. Lots of nature preserves and colleges nearby. The schools in the 5 college consortium are within 15 minutes.
We stayed at the UMass Hotel while visiting Amherst, Mount Holyoke and Hampshire colleges. The hotel is run by the University of Massachusetts school of hotel management and tourism and judging by how they run the hotel, it must be a really excellent program. The room was well designed and comfortable. There were high quality linens, beds, towels and toiletries. Plus there was an ipod dock and Keurig coffee maker. The staff were exceedingly kind and the continental breakfast healthy and fresh. Since the weather this winter has been especially snowy, we appreciated the free indoor parking. We would stay here again without hesitation regardless of which school my daughter attends.

Very nice hotel and staff

Posted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: The friendly staff
Cons: The entrance to the front was a little confusing to get to. Maybe because of the remodeling
Location: We didn't do much but there is a lot of places to go and things to do. We weren't really impressed with the mission cantina restaurant
We stay at the hotel one night. Very friendly staff. We asked the front desk if they would call us a cab which they did. We waited quite awhile for them to come so the front desk called the cab company back and they said they would be another20 minutes, still waited and waited. One of the employes( her name was Tina ) was heading home from her shift offered to give us a ride to the restaurant . We just thought it was so thoughtful for her to do that.

On UMASS campus, close to town

Posted Jan 7, 2014
Pros: Proximity to the town.
We were very pleased with the comfort of the room and overall access to parking. It is situated in conjunction with the student center, so the entrance was tricky to find when we first arrived. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Surprisingly Wonderful

Posted Oct 28, 2013
Location: Visiting for Open House.
Our family spent the past Saturday night at this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised that they provided r/t shuttle service into town. We had Michael drive us back and forth and enjoyed conversing with him about the University. Also had the pleasure of meeting Jacob the bar server in the lobby and he was so nice to speak to as well. They seem to have done a great job in choosing these student's as part of their staff. The room and breakfast provided was also well done. All in all had a wonderful stay!

Nice hotel convenient for lacrosse tournament

Posted Jul 8, 2013
Pros: Clean. Friendly personnel. Convenient location
Cons: Bigger breakfast area. Would be nice to have a bar or lounge for cocktails.
We stayed here during a lacrosse tournament and it was so convenient. It was extremely hot so it was nice to retreat to the cool air conditioning and showers in between games. Personnel were very helpful and friendly. Food court located in lower level to get snacks lunch and gatorades. I would definitely stay here again. Little bit pricey but they all jack up their prices on popular weekends.

Pros: Modern, clean, friendly staff, welcoming,
Cons: the food at room service was pretty bad :(
Location: Great area, very green, nice cute restaurants (go to the Rt. 9 Diner. great food, service and it's a trip back to the 50's).
came for my son's graduation and was so pleasantly surprised by this hotel! very modern, clean, friendly and absolutely beautiful! I will definitely come back again even for a short vacation in the area. Don't stay anywhere else! its truly a gem!
