Weekend in Amsterdam

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: Nothing really
Location: Museums, canal boat trips, tram stop, Heinneken brewery visits, diamond cutters / shop, street market
Amazing room (Honeymoon Suite). Interestingly furnished. Huge comfy bed. Small balcony with table and 2 chairs over looking canal. Good area, pretty quiet but short walk to museums and market. Bathroom (wet room with bath too) possibly more style than function but very modern. Huge wardrobe, centre cupboard containing main necessities for self-catering particularly breakfast to include kettle, coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Stairs precarious but think all little hotels look as if they are the same, and you do get used to them. If we return to Amsterdam we'd stay there again

Lovely

Posted Apr 23, 2014
Cons: Some information on the local area would have been good e.g. Supermarket, bike hire places etc.
Staff were lovely. Great location, not even 10 minutes by tram, even less by metro to the city centre and quiet area right on the canal, so no trouble getting a good sleep.

des res in quiet location

Posted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: Away from all the hubub yet close enough to get back to when you want , smallish room with kitchen in a cabinet , it had all you would need for a shor
Cons: The only thing it needed was a place to hang dresses , however there were pegs on the side of the kitchen cup board
Location: Amstel , is in a quiet location there is a supermarket very near so fresh breakfast pastries and fruit , close to tram 4 and all activities , magic
Our room had everything you would need in a compact space , very helpful owner magic city with too much to do . we had three and a half days and did less than we wanted to do . The I amsterdam card worked well , great restraunts and good choice, drinks can be expensive so take less. I would be happy to stay at Amstel corner again ,

Top quality - I'd definitely stay again

Posted Nov 15, 2013
Pros: price, location, quality - what more can I stay?
Cons: Nothing
Location: Amsterdam is on your doorstep. We stayed 5 days and travelled everywhere on foot as wife a bit nervous on 2 wheels! Whatever you want it's there
Ideal location as I like to get out walking and explore places I visit. Quiet location but plenty of local bars / coffee shops / restaurants right on the doorstep. We turned up at midday and were given a warm welcome even though the room had only just been vacated and had not been cleaned. Even so we were shown the room, given keys etc so went off for a stroll and retuned 1 hour later. We were then given a bottle of chilled wine followed by another two days later when our hosts discovered it was my birthday. Good facilities in the room so we could prepare basic meals (we stayed in the Playroom) and room cleaned to high standard every day. 3 flights of steep stairs to the room but not an issue unless you have mobility problems. I'd definitely stay at Amstel Corner again. Thanks.

Location: The location is perfect! Very easy to find and right beside the tram stop which goes into central station!
Such a lovely comfortable room!! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the cleaners were so thorough! We were both very impressed with this accommodation! It had everything we could need and more, and everything was so handy, no fuss and no hassle! Thank you for a lovely stay, it just made our trip so much nicer!! Thank you all very much!! Loved our stay

Amstel Corner is a lovely guest house, we stayed 3 nights in the 'Play Room' on the top floor. The room was well equipped with a kitchenette, clean modern bathrooms, modern furniture and a comfy bed (although a little on the soft side). On arrival (which was quite late), we were met by Fokko, the owner, who showed us to our room which is at the very top of the building, up some very steep, narrow stairs, which is pretty standard for Amsterdam. Fokko was very accommodating and even carried my bag up to the top floor ! Its a little further out than a lot of the other hotels but we liked walking along the canals in the morning. It is an easy walk to the centre (about 15-20 minutes along the canals) - if you'd prefer not to walk there are good tram links.

Lovely apartment style rooms

Posted Oct 22, 2013
Our room was located on the top floor of the building, the stairs were pretty steep but the room was definitely worth it. We had a lovely view of the city at the back of the building. The room contained a fridge, a hob, sink and tea/coffee making facilities. We had a tv, hi-fi and a DVD player. The room was beautifully furnished and spotless. The only downside was thst it's a little bit away from the city centre, but there are nice shops and restaurants near by and within walking distance.

Perfect for longer stays.

We stayed here for over a week and it worked out perfectly for us. It had a small kitchenette and the hotel is located very close to a supermarket and a fabulous outdoor market. It is also located near a tram line, a park, the museum district, and is right on a canal. There were also plenty of cafes and restaurants a short walk away. Very close to the Heineken experience (if you are willing to spend 21 euros on that!) The hotel was in a quiet neighborhood and the rooms are quite soundproof. The place is kept immaculately clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Especially Fernando, he rocks! Sometimes when you rent an apartment it is not cleaned, but they cleaned our room every day. The rooms are quite small, but they do a lot with the space. I am 5'8" and my knees hit the wall when I used the toilet. It didn't bother me that much. I think my husband had to sit sideways. They have some bigger rooms, but they are more expensive. There is no desk or common area and seeing staff was hit or miss. We forgot our phone, which made it more difficult, but we left notes under the managers door and got everything we needed in a timely manner.

A weekend break hotel

Posted Nov 23, 2012
Pros: nicely decorated
Cons: the toilet is a little crushed you touch the opposite wall whilst on it
Location: Could be more central
A nice place to stay for a few days you will need to walk to get to anything as it is a long way from Dam Square and the central station. On the plus ide its a 10 minute walk to the main museum and Van Gogh museum and 5 mins to the Heineken tour and 5 mins to the canal boat hop on hop off. There is a fantastic cheap lidl right by the hotel for any bits and pieces.

A Great Value in an Expensive City

Posted Oct 28, 2012
Pros: Great use of space in the room and the operator is very friendly and helpful. Also, fast and free internet.
Cons: The staircases. I guess it is a fairly common thing in Amsterdam but they are very narrow and go straight up. They are murder when lugging suitcases.
Location: A little far away from the hub of the city, but easily within walking distance. Right on the canals.
I stayed here for a few days and really had a good time. The room was fairly small but they way in which it was laid out really maximized the living space. There was a great view from our top floor room, free internet access, and a nice little coffee machine. The owner is also very nice, he lives downstairs and cleaned our room daily, helped us lug out suitcases up the stairs when we arrived, and gave us great advice on places to go and how to get around. The downsides are that it is towards the outside of the city and the staircases inside are insanely steep. However, things in Amsterdam are very expensive and this hotel was a great value, and served our needs perfectly. I would recommend it to anyone going there for a weekend or two.
