We had the Dream Room which I believe is the smallest of the rooms at Amstel Corner. It was small but it was cozy. Comfortable bed, efficient kitchen and the bathroom shower was luxurious. We will definitely stay there again!

Wonderful stay at Amstel Corner!!
We had a great stay at Amstel Corner! The owner was very friendly and flexible when our train was going to arrive later due to a delay. He even gave us a map and pointed out places to see before we leave. The location is perfect, a short walk from transit, as well as to many sights in the city. Our room was clean, and the space was perfect for two people. I would recommend Amstel Corner to anyone looking for a more authentic stay in Amsterdam to explore the city!

My husband & I just stayed in the Play Room for 4 nights. The room is small, but cosy and clean. It was great to have a kitchenette. The bathroom is small, but beautiful. The hotel is quiet, there are only 4 or 5 rooms. It’s close to everything, including supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, pubs, trams and the metro. The only downside to this hotel is the stairs! They are steep and narrow. We were on the top floor so we had 3 flights of stairs to climb. However, unless you have physical limitations, it’s really not a dealbreaker. It was good exercise! We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, comfortable and cosy. We would definitely stay here again.

No lift and stairs that are as steep as ladders.
Our biggest concern was that this hotel did not have a lift in it and our room was on the 3rd floor. There was no way we were going to carry our luggage up to our room so we had to leave our luggage down stairs and only bring up each time only what we needed which made it an inconvenience. The stairways were straight up very steep they reminded me of a ladder more than stairs. I felt the outside of the hotel along with the other hotels on the street could have been cleaner. This was a typical old style dutch hotel with no lift.

Fabulous Hotel & Stay
We stumbled upon Amstel Corner Hotel and fell in love with the photos that we saw online. We promptly booked our one night stay for our last night in Amsterdam and were very pleased with our decision to do so. The hotel is located near some great squares such as Rembrandt and Leidseplein square, which was great for our needs! Upon arrival at the hotel, we found that it was actually a house that had been turned into a hotel with several suites for rent. The owner of the Hotel, Fokko, was very much accommodating and gave us information about the area and a lovely map for navigating to restaurants, shops, and local bars. Fokko also lives at the hotel in his own private suite and is available anytime if needed. We had the Duke's Suite which was very spacious and the description matched perfectly. Our suite contained a King sized bed with a fully equipped kitchen and large bathroom. There was a couple flights of stairs to climb to get to our room, which we were ok with. Fokko has also written a lovely book about his home and its history that we enjoyed reading during out stay. We very much enjoyed our time here and would recommend Amstel Corner to anyone looking for a peaceful, luxurious hotel that still offers a fabulous location. The bed was also amazing and the best sleep that we have had during our trip! We look forward to visiting Amstel Corner again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

Lovely apartment, balcony view of the Amstel/canal
Our third stay in Amsterdam was all the better because of our stay at Amstel Corner. It was our first time staying in an apartment and the location was just close enough to the city's main attractions and far enough for a quiet sleep. The Honeymoon Suite with its beautiful decor, great balcony overlooking the Amstel River and canal and all the right things to prepare a continental breakfast were just perfect! The best part of our stay was Fokko. He was always available for questions and very helpful. If you're looking for a beautiful apartment away from the hustle and bustle, but within walking distance to the museums and city center with a personal touch from the owner, then look no further.

Very comfy room, away from the crowds
We booked the honeymoon suite, and it was wonderful! Huge soaking tub, rain shower, heavenly soft bed. Small balcony with seating for two, overlooking one of the canals. It is a bit of a walk to the nearest tram stop. If you want to be away from the touristy areas, as we did, then this is an excellent choice. It is more of a B&B than a hotel, as it has only 4 rooms! Our host emailed us shortly after our booking, with his contact information and a request to keep in touch for check-in. You can not just show up, as this is not a full-service hotel. Our host let us know this up front, and we were warmly welcomed and offered a nice bottle of champagne. It was a fantastic 3 day weekend in Amsterdam, and I highly recommend this hotel if you want peace and quiet. If you want to be where the action is, you may want to choose another hotel closer to the desired neighborhood. This one was kind of in between, which allowed us to go one direction to the Red Light district (once was enough!) or another to get to the shops and restaurants we were looking for.

Lovely hotel, excellent location. Traditional Dutch canal house, pretty location and easy access to Albert Kypp market, Waterlooplein and Rembrantplein. Room was huge, excellent bathroom, small balcony overlooking the canal. Lots of steep stairs but that's Amsterdam. Tea and coffee stuff in the room and a fridge and microwave.

We very much appreciated our studio (Play Room) at Amstel Corner. -we requested and got 2 single beds (even though its easily reconfigured into 1 bed) -excellent location, with grocery store very close, in a safe area, and easy walk to centraal, red light, attractions -complete kitchen (fridge, microwave, stove, Nespresso+cups, cookware/dishes, etc) -studio was clean, high-tech(internet worked very well), felt safe(cameras in the hallways, proper lighting) -quiet and cozy and classy, very well designed and furnished. This particular studio doesn't have a balcony but that worked fine with us. -it`s true that the stairs are very steep, but take your time, there are two ramps, don't rush it and you'll do just fine, and well if you do trip, it's thick, nice, fluffy carpet, you may survive. -soundproofing was good! we could barely hear people in the corridor or next door, anyway there is only 2 rooms on this floor. -the staff also very positively contributed to our stay and was always so very kind and eager to help or suggest great things to see or do and they were not invasive at all.

Fabolous hotel
We stayed for 5 nights at Amstel Corner. The hotel overlooks Amstel canal. This hotel is amazing with various rooms. We had the Play Room and it was such a nice stay with everything you could possible need for a short break. It has a little kitchen area and Fokko provides a little coffee machine for you. There is an apple tv so if you have Netflix then you are definitely sorted! The bathroom is nice and a decent size. Finally Fokko the owner is absolutely lovely, he met us on arrival and made sure we were satisfied with everything and answered some questions about the area which really did help. We had a fantastic time and we are definitely going to be returning!!

One word... AMAZING! This is the place to stay!
One word... AMAZING! This could not have been anymore perfect of a stay for our family of four, 2 adults and 2 children ages 10 and 7. We stayed for 4 nights in the family suite located at the top of the house. We flew in late and were accommodated by the hotel manager who was the most friendliest! She gave us advise, showed us everything in the room and around the area for ease of travel for our stay. The beds were super comfortable and waking up to a view of the canel each morning could not have been better. The suite also contained cook wear and kitchen items in case you feel like eating in from the wonderful fresh veges and fruits purchased from the outdoor market a few block away! The house is situated about 3 blocks from the metro and right behind the bus line. There is the best bakery/ pizza place "The Bakhus" that made the bread and pastries right in front of you! My kids loved it and the food was amazing! Our stay made our little vacation in Amsterdam amazing! Thank you so much and I wouldn't recommend another hotel to stay while in Amsterdam to enjoy the heart of the city but still maintain privacy and the separation of the hustle and bustle of constant tourists!

Very nice place to stay
The hotel was great, the staff was fully accommodating. The room was very nice and clean with a great view of the city to the west. The bar had a good salection of wine, and has a really nice patio. The roof top garden was great with a fantastic view of the city, but the hot tub was cold and didn't smell very good so we didn't go in it. It was a short 15 min walk to the center of the city, good time. I would stay there agin for sure

Nice boutique hotel, close to city!
My partner and I stayed at Amstel Corner for a couple of nights at the start of our Europe trip. The apartment was clean and accommodating. Further, the staff were friendly and providing information to us on sights and the transport system within Amsterdam. The apartment is located a walking distance away from the nearest metro, with great eateries and cafes nearby. I would recommend to anybody visiting Amsterdam, however please be aware that their are a number of very steep flights of stairs leading upwards to the apartment. This may prove difficult for families or those travelling with lots of luggage!

Gorgeous apartment in a beautiful canal-side house
Stayed in Dukes Suite on the top floor, yes the stairs are steep and narrow but that is because it is an original canal-side house. The studio apartment was completely kitted out with everything you would need to be self catering for your holiday with a full size fridge, excellent cooker/microwave/hob, kettle, coffee maker, huge TV with netflix, music system, extremely comfortable beds, very luxurious bathroom with big shower. The place is immaculate and all the laundry is changed regularly. The owner is very welcoming and Maria who works there is really helpful and friendly. You are very near to tram stops and only 5 mins from Albert Cuyp one of the largest street markets in Europe as well as being near plenty of bars and shops. You can walk along the canals into town (stopping to eat and drink on the way). The view from the window over the canal is lovely particularly at night. We had a wonderful stay and loved its location, with the choice to tram (every 10 mins) into town or take a leisurely very scenic walk. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is not a hotel in the true sense of the word but luxury studio apartments in a traditional residential setting.

Nice if you want to stay in a residential area
Hotel is picturesque, but located away from tourist areas. Owner is very friendly and helpful. There are no shops or restaurants nearby. There is no elevator, and the stairs are extremely steep and narrow. The most convenient transportation is the tram which stops about a block and a half away - - much closer and easier to find than the metro.

Owner was painting inside the building although we had reservation since several months. My wife is allergic and got asthma.I lost my money and we need to find reservation in Amsterdam running out of time and pay a lot because everything was sold out. This hotel hadn't amenities and only one narrow and very long staircase to access to guest rooms. We hadn't received any previous notice from this hotel. For this owner customers don't care.

Amstel Corner Hotel-Great Location
Amstel Corner Hotel is a great hotel in a great location. It's worth noting there are a large number of steep steps to climb to get to the guest rooms. Also, we were a bit surprised to find there was no air conditioning in our room. The windows opened and the temp was comfortable outside, so it was a non issue for our stay.

Not an actual hotel, but a nice surprise!
The owner is awesome. The information on this hotel should relay that it is not in fact a hotel, but someone's home. It didn't affect us much, but it might for someone who is reliant on regular hotel services. Otherwise, the room was fantastic (we stayed in the Honeymoon Suite). Traditional Amsterdam Canal House Hotel
We stayed at the Amstel Corner for three nights and had a very pleasant time. The house is in a very quiet location but only a short walk and tram ride into the centre. If you want to experience a traditional Amsterdam canal house then this is ideal. We stayed in the Dream room which has a small kitchen cupboard containing hob, microwave and sink - ideal for breakfast. The bathroom was quite small but fine. The staff were always helpful and provide a key to enable us to store our bags on our final day after we had checked out. Would stay here again if we go back to Amsterdam.

A lot to like...
There is a lot to like about this charming little hotel in a converted canal house. We had a room at the front of the top floor looking over the canal. The room was spacious, easily accommodating the three of us, well appointed and had comfortable beds. It had cooking facilities and a generous sized table to eat at. The bathroom was clean and a good size. The narrow staircases leading to the room are steep but lovely. However, they may prove a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. The hotel is in a quiet location but it is only a short walk to great cafes and restaurants. Depending on the weather, it is a comfortable walk to major sights including the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House and the Dam. Otherwise, there is a choice of trams just a block from the hotel's front door. The hotel is easily reached from Central Station on the number 4 tram. Staff were very friendly and we liked the little touches - fresh flowers in the entrance and the halls, a box of mandarins on a table on the landing. We would happily stay here again.

DIAMOND of a hotel in the centre of Amsterdam!
Arrived for 3 night stay December 2014. Hotel very easy to find after short train (15 min) and metro ride (5 min) from Schiphol airport. Located in canal-side traditional tall Dutch house, lovely boutique hotel where all rooms are decorated in very stylish Dutch modern design. Hotel is on quiet side street so very little noise, and the air con/heating always kept the room just right. Rooms have kitchenettes so you can stay in and cook if you want to (Lidl and other supermarkets nearby). Stairs in hotel are VERY steep (but this is normal for Dutch houses and very traditional). Rooms very spacious and luxurious. Hotel owner Fokko is very friendly and welcoming and can recommend good places to eat and visit nearby. Nearby are numerous markets, great pubs, restaurants and shops including the museum quarter and the Heineken Experience. This is really one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in in any city in the world (and I have stayed in a LOT) and excellent value too. Why stay in a touristy overpriced hotel in the centre of Amsterdam when you can have a really lovely stay in a beautiful old Dutch canal-side house only 10 minutes tram/metro ride from Amsterdam Centraal station?

On checking out he was especially helpful in allowing us to print our boarding passes to make out return trip hassle free. Friendly town house in a quiet location.
Very pleasant accommodation about 10 minutes walk from central Amsterdam. Set in a traditional Amsterdam house this is not a hotel in the usual sense and allows you to live the authentic Dutch experience in a narrow town house. The room was clean, modern, comfortable and quiet with good facilities and even a small kitchen stocked with essentials. We enjoyed our stay at Amstel Corner - Thank you Fokko.

Nice hotel, a little away from the main squares.
Had a great stay at Amstel Corner. It was clean, and we got to check into our room early. It wasnt ready, but they did let us keep our bags in the room and just come back later. I only gave 4* for cleanliness because the room we had booked (Dukes Suite) was stated as non-smoking, but had extremely strong smoke smell in the room. Not good for my girlfriend with asthma. Luckily they had another room to put us in, but it wasn's as nice of a room unfortunately. The rooms were always spotless though. We had a great stay overall though. Be aware that the stairs are steeper than you could imagine, but I believe this is probably normal for Amsterdam. The neighborhood is quiet. Its a ways away from the busy parts of town, but a 2 minute walk gets you to the trams to get you wherever you want to go. I would highly recommend getting the tram passes! Great restaurants only a couple blocks away though, and about 15 minutes if walking will get you to Rembrandt square. I was pleased, and would recommend this place to anyone not wanting to be right in the super busy parts of Amsterdam. You will certainly get a lot more space here than any of the hotels right by the squares!
