Excellent hotel near museums and nightlife

Posted Nov 5, 2014
Pros: Helpful staff, nice breakfast
Cons: N/a
Our stay at the Marriott was excellent. Breakfast was included in the rate and the selection was very good. The tram is only a 5 minute walk and is very convenient to tourist attractions. The hotel area is quiet and a nice break from the busier parts of the city.

Great location only !

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Room service night menu, hotel decor is dated, lift doors looked like service or goods lifts from the outside. Atmosphere and a vibe.
Location: Leidseplein for entertainment.
The Marriott is undoubtedly in a great location and perfect walking distance to the lively Leidseplein and trams connecting you to Centraal station and Museumplein. That was the main reason we choose the hotel. That is basically the only good thing going for the hotel in our opinion. What’s not good, it’s a boring hotel in terms of guest room décor and hotel atmosphere, its staid, its room service mainly night service food options were iappalling.

Good location

Posted Sep 30, 2014
Pros: The location was very good and the rooms were quite comfortable with decent air-conditioning.
Cons: Try and have the Wi-Fi included in the price.
Location: Good location. Trams to museums, can walk to many restaurants and shops. Canal cruise nearby the hotel as well.
Stayed here while attending a Conference and decided to add a weekend break. The hotel itself is quite well located and despite not being in the city centre, it was close enough to the tram stops that getting around was not a problem at all. Checking in was fairly straightforward and the room was reasonably big and comfortable. The only real issue I had with this hotel is that free Wi-Fi is not included in the room price. There is however a very good free Wi-Fi access in the lobby area so most people could be seen checking their emails there. This was not a major problem but I do wonder why they don't make the cost of the room internet much cheaper (or free). I didn't opt for the breakfast as it was quite expensive and there were numerous restaurants that were a 5 min walk away.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your experiences regarding your stay at the Amsterdam Marriott Hotel. We appreciate to hear from our guests as the feedback we receive is valuable to us in order to improve and maintain our services in all areas needed. I am glad to learn that you enjoyed our location and your room was comfortable. We do offer free internet in our higher room categories, like Executive or Superior Corner rooms. In our Deluxe rooms is the internet not included/free indeed. If this caused any disappointment I do apologize for this. Meanwhile I was glad to learn that the quality of our complimentary internet in our public areas met your expectations. We hope when travel brings you back to Amsterdam we have the pleasure of welcoming you again. Kind regards, Guus Verhulst Front Office Manager

Great stay

Posted Sep 30, 2014
Pros: The location was great. The room was great. Just about everything was great.
Cons: Our room seemed to get damp on the third day. Airconditioning was barely working and made the room feel damp.
Everything about the hotel was 5 star. Right next to Vondel park for bike riding. Across the street from tram, bus, Wagamama, casino, and Hard Rock Cafe. about 3 blocks from museum area. The staff was outstanding and always there to help.

Excellent stay, great location

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Location and comfort
Location: Eat at Gauchos by Leidesplein square. Excellent food and service.
We have stayed in amsterdam lots of times and this is our favorite place and area to stay. It is close to the Leidesplein square, which is great for upper scale restaurants and open air bars (with umbrellas and heaters). Catch the 1, 2, or 5 tram from Central station and get off at Leidesplein stop. 2 minute walk from there. Or you can take the 197 Bus from the Airport. Takes approx. 1/2 hour. Hotel is very clean and great comfortable beds.

Very good position, but...

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: Excellent location, quiet room, excellent lighting. Comfortable bed (but the no-feather pillows were primitive, not the ones advertised).
Cons: Co-ordination between reservations and housekeeping so that special requests are fulfilled before guests arrive.
Location: This is in the museum district, just a short walk from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum and Diamond Museum, but also not far from the centre.
Why can't Marriott co-ordinate requirements? Yer again on arrival I was told that my request for "no feathers" hadn't been actioned, there would be a half hour wait. Check in staff were unsmiling. Like other travellers I would specially comment on the breakfasts - they really should just provide a buffet, and in Europe we expect cheese and fresh fruit as automatic options. We breakfasted elsewhere.

Dear Guest, On behalf of our General Manager, Peter Schickling, we would like to thank you for sharing your experience with us. We were delighted to hear that you enjoyed the location of the hotel, and that room was quiet and comfortable. We would, however like to apologize that the request for a feather free room was not arranged prior to your arrival. Your comments will be shared with our Housekeeping and Front Desk team to ensure additional training to avoid this from happening again. Thank you again and we look forward to welcome you back soon. Kind regards, Meredith Opten
