Come equipped

Posted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: Quiet and good price.
Location: There is nothing to do nearby unless the next door tennis club allows drop-ins. Plan to come and leave with not much more in the middle.
I hoped to find a shop nearby to purchase some simple food. Being a total vegetarian, eating in the hotel is a waste of money. There is NOTHING close but a Japanese restaurant and I wanted some fruit and bread, that's all. Taking two van rides was a bit of a hassle and delayed my arrival at Bastion. But the hotel is nice and clean in a very nice neighborhood. Overall had a very good experience.

Pleasant.

Pros: Nice comfortable rooms.
Cons: Hotel receptionists should be more friendly/helpfull, I did get the feeling that some didn't like their job very much! Vacuum under the beds!
Location: Good location, shuttle bus drivers friendly, but the swicth from one bus to another bus is a bit anoying.

Not the best choice for a Schiphol airport hotel

Posted Jun 2, 2014
The hotel was fine, but the Airporter shuttle ends and starts to early for travellers arriving a bit later or flying a bit early. Also Bastion Hotel Schiphol has multiple locations in the town, separated by a Euro 20,- taxi ride apart. This is rather annoying if you don't know this and arrive later after their shuttles have ended. I spend Euro 70,- extra on transport back and forth to use this hotel (at off hours as mentioned). Other hotels in the area offer shuttles that operate 24 hours a day, which is more convenient and less expensive all considered.

Don't be fooled

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Make sure you tell customers about the distance away from airport and how old and dated this is
Location: Nothing good about location. No food
Arrived with the shuttle BW/Bastion only to find out there are 2 Bastion hotels. Had to take another shuttle, 20 minutes, to a very old and dated motel. No double beds, beds very close to the floor. No place to eat. One would have to take the 2nd shuttle back to the first Bastion to find food. You have to leave earlier than anticipated as the shuttle goes back to BW/Bastion to inter-change with a shuttle back to the airport. Another 20 minutes. This hotel deferinately is NOT WORTH the effort to stay there, no matter the cost.

Hotel was reasonably good

Room had all the facilities, but no room service. Everything else was fine i.e free parking, free Internet, free shuttle service to and from the airport. Nice terrace to sit outside.

Good hotel for the airport vicinity

Posted May 21, 2014
Me and my brother had a great time. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had no problems with the shuttles to and fro to the airport and back again. And the Breakfast Buffet was excellent. Not a bad deal for a 3 night stay.

Difficult for a solo traveller

Posted May 17, 2014
Location: Bastion Hotel Schiphol/ Hoofddorp is out in the wilds and is reached by an initial courtesy bus to another Bastion Hotel, then to this one.
I did get some odd reactions from staff being a solo traveller, but overall a reasonable hotel.
