“Will go back”

Beside that the rooms are very small, I did like it very much. Close to everything I was looking for like the train station, museum, shopping, ect.

The hotel was fine. I read some bad reviews but the staff was good to us and helpful. The price was real good for that area. Everything for shopping is real close by. I would go back and stay there again. You just have to keep in mind it is not a 5 star hotel nor does it advertise it to be.

“Truly budget hotel”

The hotel's location is perfect, one cannot ask for better - a short walk (with luggage) from Amsterdam central station. However, the rooms are extremely cramped. The reception is not on the ground floor and one has to lift heavy luggage up a long stretch of narrow stairs to the reception floor, which is also rather dingy. I guess that's what you get for "budget hotel". I certainly did not expect to carry 25Kg of luggage up a long flight of stairs before reaching reception. On the positive side, it is at least clean.

Far too many issues to list, however expect below hostel quality hotel. Room was not available upon arrival, therefore had to negotiate a new room with the hotel. Appauling standards inside the rooms.

“Like a dirty hostel”

Well, it was funky, let's give it that. But the sewer gas smell building up in the bathroom, the atrociously filthy carpet, the TV that didn't work, the promised wifi that was ephemeral...Place is a dump. We did have a window right over the Damrak and that made for interesting viewing, and the linens were clean. Otherwise, unless you're just looking for a cheap crash-pad, and this isn't that cheap, i'd look somewhere else.

It was a huge shock to see the hotel, claimed to be 2 star but in reality not even 1 star. I have been to 2 dozen cities spanning 4 continents, but has never seen or even dreamed of such a pathetic hotel. The entrance is just a door, then steep dangerous stairs to level 2 with a tiny counter. Even though the website claims of a lift, a tiny lift operates only from level 2, so the stairs can't be avoided. Doors, corridors, everything is as small as possible. The rooms are extremely small, with bunk beds. There is almost nothing in the room+toilet, not even enough lamp (very weak light). Do not drink tap water even if the staff tell you it is drinkable, we did and some of us became sick. For left luggage there is a tiny place, and the staff do not take any responsibility. The toilet is ok. The location is great, a few minutes from Amsterdam Centraal.

“worst hotel ever”

We left as soon as we saw the room. We paid for a full night but went and got a new hotel immediately and didn;t even stay here. Dirty, gross, brown sheets, holes in the wall. Brutal, brutal disgusting hotel. Never stay here. I have stayed on Damrak st more than once before and though the hotels are never great this one is too bad to even contemplate staying at. Would not give us any refund whatsoever even though we didn't stay there.
