“off the beaten path”

Quiet (front) room overlooking a canal with boats and swans. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. Ten minute walk to Central Station 15-20 min. to Anne Francke, 30-40 min. to Flower Market. Innumerable sidewalk eateries with delicious food in 30 min radius. You won't see much of the proprietors but they were friendly and helpful.

“A Great Amsterdam Experience!”

Location, location, location! Canal House is located in a beautiful residential area. It's a short 10-15 minute walk from the Central station and the tourist information center. Many wonderful restaurants tourist attractions and shops are nearby. The clean spacious rooms are in a private home. There is NO sign to identify this as a hotel, so make sure to look for the address. Canal House is much more comfortable than a hotel, here you get a real taste of Amsterdam life. We totally enjoyed our stay here.

“Only suitable for backpackers.”

After traveling for 40hrs it would have been nice to be able to make a hot drink. No milk or even creamer was available. Besides which the cups were so dirty and cracked as to have been unusable anyway. The location is very good but the standard needs to be lifted to make one star.
