“The name says it all”

The name says it all. This hotel is Chic and Basic. The hotel is a short walk from the train station and overlooks a canal in a better part of the city. It is also a short walk to the Anne Frank House and Dam Square. While the hotel may not provide all the amenities of a Four Seasons, they offer all the necessary amenities such as free bottled water, coffee, toast, etc. We were also able to rent bicycles from the front desk. The rooms were also clean and nice and ours overlooked the canal.

“Perfect place to stay for few days and enjoy Amsterdam”

The hotel was clean, Internet was working properly, and the overall experience was extremely good. The staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel itself is full of stairs.. so if you have a problem with it you should ask (if there are any) rooms at the first floor. Our room was quite small, but very comfortable. We really liked the small hints left around about the `basic & chic` features.. very funny.

“Great Staff - Great Location - Great Coffee”

The staff was wonderful. Our room was very nice. The wireless worked fine. The last night we moved to a room with a canal view - Beautiful The free coffee is delicious Nothing bad to say about this place. My son and I just want to say Thank You

“our room was great”

The room were clean and service was excellent. The staff was very helpful and and they all seemed to speak a number of languages including English which was very helpful to us. no elevator might be a problem for some. Staff carried our bags then refusede to take a tip! Very basic no fancy ballrooms, no pool, no resturant in the hotel (many near-by) We would definately stay there again. In fact after seeing some of the fancier and more expensive hotels in the area Chic & Basic would be our firsty choice if we went to Amsterdam again

“Very satisfied”

This hotel was in an ideal location, and for the price point, provided all the services and amenities you can expect and more. Free internet and wifi in all the rooms, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. We will definitely recommend to all our friends.

“Nice Hotel and Location”

Was clean with modern decor. Building was on a canal (old building remodeled inside as a hotel). Walking distance to central station, shopping, dam square, etc...) Staff was helpful as well. Will try to stay there next time.

“to western cowboy, very european...”

My first time in Europe, my first quaint hotel, this facility was supprising. absolutly a fabulous location for the walking visitor. i enjoyed the room, but i would request [and pay] for a full bathroom. I would gladly recommend this establishment. wonderful staff and unique structure.

“good hotel”

Very nice looking hotel. I expected the room to be small, but the degree of smallness still surprised me. Otherwise, the room was in good condition. The shower faucet was attached to the wall in the same tiny room as the toilet. Also, the three flights of stairs are narrow and steep, but not a big deal if you're in shape. The front desk was helpful, and the breakfast was great. If you're looking to be right in the center of the action, I'd look elsewhere, but this was still a great place to stay.

“As it is title...Basic”

Very basic, small (as many of the hotels in Europe). Staff is very nice. In a great, safe, location. Some of the other areas in Amsterdam felt a little unsafe. 10hrs of free wifi in your room, otherwise a computer to use in the lobby. Free coffee & water machines available 24/7. Free breakfast, but it only includes toast.

“A Good Basic Hotel”

This hotel worked well for my daughter and myself since we just needed a place to keep our luggage and beds to sleep in. The room was clean and quiet . Wi-Fi was free but has to be requested.Breakfast is toast and butter and jams, juice, and hot beverages. Location was close to Central Station and tram stops .Unless you get a room on ground level, be prepared to go up flights of steps as there are no elevators. This was the only drawback for us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I return to Amsterdam.
