friendly, personable staff went above & beyond!

Highly recommended! We asked for restaurant suggestions two of the four nights we were there, and they had great ideas & booked them for us within minutes! Wanted a bit more space & they happily showed us 3 different rooms available! Had a lovely lunch sitting out along the canal complete with wine (fantastic soft shell crab!). They reserved a private boat for our family to cruise the canals one afternoon complete with champagne & a knowledgable friendly captain which was one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Pros: Comfort, cleanliness, location,staff.
Cons: No
Location: Enjoy everything the heart of Amsterdam has to offer
We have stayed here before and know what a fantastic spaciously first class hotel it is. We travel the world annually and find the staff some of the most professional and helpful that you will ever encounter

wonderful hotel, great location, great service.

Pros: same as above
Location: we were able to walk everywhere --we never took a taxi or other form of transpiration.
The concierge helped us each day to find a dinner restaurant. All of the restaurant choices were first rate and reasonably priced--we had seafood, Indonesian cuisine, Thai food, Indian food and french/Dutch food. The view from our room over the city and canals was lovely. The room was large and attractive. The bathroom was marble and very large. We could walk to the museums and other sights from our room.

Excellent hotel in superb location.

Pros: Pretty well everything.
Cons: More efficient double glazing.
Location: Superb location. Everything within easy reach by foot.
We stayed 6 nights and were given a free upgrade. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The only problem was on a Saturday night. There is a small pub nearby and the noise was unbelievable the whole night. It was impossible to sleep, even with earplugs. Much of Central Amsterdam seems to change on a Saturday night. Maybe best to avoid Amsterdam at that time. Better glazing would have helped.

5 Star Hotel with 2 Star Service

Posted May 14, 2014
Pros: Leaving
Cons: Customer service
Location: Very good location
I will net this out: Cons: - Requested room to be made up at 10AM, returned to hotel at 11:30 - not made up, made 2nd request to hotel staff "I am so sorry" at 11:30 when leaving for lunch, returned at 12:30 - still not made up, 3rd request to to front desk "I am very sorry, will take of it immediately" at 12:30 - returned to hotel at 2:30PM - still not made up. - Turn the TV on - 1 to 2 minutes later it would turn off by itself. Contacted front desk, "So sorry, will get it fixed right away". Next day turned TV on - 10 minutes later it turned off. Tried it again that evening, stayed on for 25 minutes, then turned off. - Bathroom light turned on and off by itself. Contacted front desk, "Very sorry, will send someone fix it right away". About 30 minutes later 2 men came to the room and asked if I was having trouble with the bathroom light. I responded yes. He said he needed to get something and would return - never returned. - I was told I was upgraded from a Superior to Deluxe room. I would hate to see the size of a Superior room. One window you could not see out of because it was in an alcove above a table. The room's wardrobe closet had 6 hangers with enough room barely for a few shirts, jacket and a pair of pants. Average amount of clothes for 2 people would never come close to fitting in this tiny space. PROS: - The elevator world well - Wonderful check-out process
