“Top Notch Hotel”

Absolutely wonderful! Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Great location with Tram lines 1, 2, and 5 next to hotel. Room was surprisingly large; larger than any we have stayed in Europe for the price. Will definitely stay here again if ever in Amsterdam.

“Home away from home”

People always complain about the rooms in Europe being so small. This is not the case at this hotel. I booked a Superior Double room and we could have held a ball in it. We overlooked the canal and it was wonderful. It is a party spot near the Leidesplein area so take ear plugs but go and enjoy the room with the windows open all night. The front desk was very accomodating and had a luggage room so we left our stuff until the room was ready and enjoyed Amsterdam. Get a Strippenkaart and ride the tram it is right outside the hotel's front door and easy to navigate. Take the 197 bus from the airport, 3 euro eighty what a bargain.

“Nice hotel”

A beautiful hotel in a convenient location - room was large and sunny with big windows that opened out over the canal. The area can be a bit noisy at night, however.

“Charming”

I booked this through the reviews I read on Expedia and was quite happy. The room was large and very clean. I brewed tea, used the hair-dryer, was quite happy. The Staff was extremely helpful and I enjoyed my stay. The train and tram from the airport to the hotel are fine if you have light baggage or are a lot younger than I am. I personally could not easily get my 19.7 kilo bag up the tram steps and was pleased to book a cab back to the airport for a reasonable rate. Book it the night before, the rate is lower. Unlike many hotel phone systems, I called Indiana from my room and was charged a very reasonable rate. Breakfast was adequate, I would call it Continental plus cereal, cheese, and fruit. I enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this establishment. This hotel also has an ice-machine on the 1st floor, not advertised but very welcome to many Americans. A good buy for your money.

“perfect location”

Excellent location on the Prinsengracht within walking distance to everything we were interested in - museums, Anne Frank house, Rijks Museum, Van Gogh Museum, Rembrandt house, and the historical museum. Breakfast was excellent and our room was quite spacious. We were located on the Leidsestraat side so it was a bit noisey some nights but otherwise a perfect spot.

“The most comfortable beds ever!”

This was a very comfortable hotel but I do have two quibbles. One is that breakfast was not included and it was ridiculously expensive. We were the only guests in the breakfast room, and if we weren't leaving as early as we did, we, like the rest of the guests it seems, would have chosen to eat elsewhere. Our other problem was with the desk clerk the night before. We asked him to make a reservation for us in a restaurant we had passed during our stroll, but when we got there, we found that he had written down the wrong name and address for our cabbie. That cab ride cost us a lot by the time we found our restaurant. He also told us that our car rental place was about 4 blocks from the hotel. Thank goodness that it was pouring rain and we got a taxi. In fact, it was clear across the other side of town, and thankfully the cabbie knew where it was. The clerk was very nice, but I don't think he knew any more about Amsterdam than we did! However, we both had a fabulous night's sleep on the unbelievably comfortable beds. We dreamed about those beds the whole time we were in Belgium!

“Gem of a hotel in the heart of Amsterdam”

As a world traveler, I have seen my share of hotels (good and very bad) and this one ranks in the top ten best hotels ever. Having paid a very reasonable rate on expedia, I was expecting very little from this hotel. However, on arrival I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was. And, I even though I had pre-paid for a twin I was upgraded to a lovely canal view room with a full bed that I would have gladly paid at least twice as much for. The room was huge by American standards, as was the bathroom and the aforementioned view of the canal was picture-perfect. Also to my delight, both room and bathroom were pristine. The extra touches such as a towel warmer and down comforters were quite nice. Also impressive was the breakfast that was included in the price of the room. Far from stale donuts and old coffee, I found a fabulous spread of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, cereal, coffee and tea. If you are planning a trip to Amsterdam you will really enjoy staying at this hotel, especially if there is an expedia promotional rate to be had.

“AVOID THE BREAKFAST!”

I was charged twelve Euros for "breakfast" Breakfast consisted consisted of cold sliced deli meats and cheese. There were hard boiled eggs available ...but also instructions on how to boil them yourself! (eggs were not cooked). I did not realize there were several restaurants and pastry shops within one block of the hotel, nor was I told. Regarding the room: It was extremely large! perhaps 800 square feet and in the rear of the hotel on the second floor. The room was wonderful, quiet and plenty of hot water. Staff was extremely helpful. Location was perfect...perhaps twenty minute walk from the Dam and center city location but only five minutes from the Van Gogh museum.

“An exceptional central hotel”

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this hotel. It was in a good part of town and was very central. The room was comfortable and clean, the breakfast was great and the staff were all very friendly. I would certainly stay there again and recommend this hotel to others.

“Convenient, clean and comfortable”

We liked this hotel very much. The location was perfect - right on the Prinsengracht canal and a very short walk to the Rijksmuseum. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel had a very boutique feel to it. Our room was large and comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
