Excellent location 500m from Centraal StationPosted Feb 25, 2015
We had a very pleasant stay this weekend, the room was excellent, the staff very pleasant and helpful. We didn't get to use the spa as we were out sightseeing all weekend, but talked to a few people who had and they said it was great. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Grand hotelPosted Feb 24, 2015
Never stayed in a 5 star hotel before, but was over whelmed with the service they provided, friendly and good staff and only wanting to offer help and advice 24/7 If I ever go back again and have the money I'll stay here for sure, didn't have the breakfast as thought it was way too dear and much cheaper outside but apart from that 5☆☆☆☆☆ all day long.

Cons: TV offerings. No pay per view, lack of TV channel choice (in English). In room literature was not accurate.
Hotel was all we could have hoped for. Clean hotel, great staff. All friendly and welcoming.

Good location near hop on hop off canal boats and central station. Good cafe food Comfortable beds. Free mini bar! Free wi fi. Older style hotel. Only negative is we asked for early check in after flight from California and had to wait until 10 mins before regular time.

Great character hotel with free mini bar and spa.Posted Feb 21, 2015
Pros: Amazing value for money.
Cons: Room was a bit to warm for my liking and found it difficult to control the temperature.
Location: Close to both the Central Rail station as well as the attractions in central Amsterdam
Really enjoyed using the spa and room large, comfortable and clean. Bathroom was great with double sink and massive bath and separate shower. Very central location and staff extremely friendly and helpful, in particular Peter the concierge. Had a fabulous stay and can't wait to return for a second trip.

Grand by name and grand throughoutPosted Feb 21, 2015
Pros: Friendly and courteous staff were the hotels best assets
Location: The station is a 5 min walk away. Recommend a meal in nearby Argentinian steakhouse.....Guadeloupe. .....steaks there are amazing.
We stayed for a week. The whole experience was a delight from start to finish. The staff were friendly and courteous at all times, their English was perfect which made everything from checking in to oordering food and drinks easy. The hotel is very old and beautiful .....marble floors and pillars, etched and stained glass and highly polished wood throughout. It is immaculate. The rooms have high ceilings and are well appointed. The beds are really comfortable. The ensuite bathroom had a roll top bath and separate shower with 2 shower heads. Plentiful soft white towels completed the bathing experience. Each room has a nespresso coffee machine and a mini bar. ......both are restocked daily without charge. We ate in the bar and the food was tasty and well presented. There is also an afternoon tea option. The hotel is in a quite area but within a 5 minute walk of the station and easily accessible by taxi. There are many bars and restaurants nearby too.

Striking hotel close to station and centrePosted Feb 20, 2015
Pros: The building, ambiance and staff
Location: The hotel is very near the station and canal trips and 10 minutes from New Market and Dam Square so lots of things nearby.
This building was converted from a shipping office when Dutch shipping was big business and so has a gothic exterior and internally magnificent marble staircase internal painted windows and glazed lights, an Amserdam site! The Restaurant is similarly lovely although we only had breakfast which was fine. The room was good, bathroom good size, complimentary alcoholic mini bar, coffee maker etc. Staff were friendly and cleaned the room and came back later in the day to check.
