Spooky, Luxurious and Interesting Hotel :-)Posted Dec 5, 2013
Pros: Massive, clean, room, huge comfy bed, modern large bathroom with shower and bath. Spa facilities, nice restaurant and bar.
Cons: I would make the reception open plan.
Location: 5 minute walk to Amsterdam Central Train Station, 10 minute walk to Dam Square, 20 minute walk to Leideserplein
Stayed here for 2 nights in November; was a lovely hotel, very spooky looking from the outside which made it more exciting - like entering a haunted mansion! It was very close to the train station so that was convenient. Massive room, extremely comfortable bed, modern large bathroom, and very clean!! Brilliant! Staff were helpful, especially the porter who showed us to our room, he was very friendly. Only weird thing was the reception which is inside a small room; not open plan like you would normally find, and it was a tad uncomfortable standing there as if you were in someone's office, but that wasn't anything to complain about!

Not a 5 star experiencePosted Dec 3, 2013
Very dissappointing stay. The room was not clean, sheets not changed despite asking the hotel to do so. Towels and bathrobes in a terrible condition. And to top it off no water on the last morning .... And no notice from the hotel to say there would be an issue.

Brilliant hotelPosted Dec 3, 2013
Pros: Central, beautiful old building with a 5-star atmosphere, helpful staff.
Cons: The gym equipment was in poor condition.
Location: Everyting is close by. Red light, shopping, train station etc.
The hotel is situated close to the central station and therefore very convinient when flying in to Schiphol. Easy to get around to the shopping area, red light and all the other places worth spending time in. Very nice and helpful staff.

This hotel is going down hill.Posted Dec 2, 2013
I stayed eight nights at this hotel. It is located on one of the busiest streets in Amsterdam. Watch out if you want peace and quiet. You won't get it at this hotel. Also, the so called "Business Center" had no internet access! When I would ask the staff, they just looked at me stating that "we didn't know that". It really is a four star hotel if it were in the US. It is different in Europe. Three star hotels in Europe are really two star hotels in the states, etc, etc. The "American Breakfast" was 34 dollars! Not worth even 15 dollars in my opinion. Not going back to this hotel.

Unique hotel well located, not 5 starPosted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: - Historical look - Close to many attractions and central station, has water view - Free unlimited WiFi, free mini bar, free coffee machine - Pool
Cons: - Hallways - Ease of checking in/out - Revolving front entrance door (the only main one), hard to push luggage through it
Location: Chinatown, Royal Palace, Old/New Church
Stayed in Nov. 2013 - Very close to Amsterdam Central Station, Chinatown, numerous attractions - Historical building, sit-down check-in inside front office, halls are little old fashioned looking, but pairs well with the building's exterior - Spacious rooms with free mini bar (restocked daily) and free coffee machine, as well as free WiFi, remote controlled curtains (functioned properly for us, but many commented on something weird with the curtains which I won't mention here) - Great swimming pool with man-made starlit night sky, as well as a gym and saunas - The staff are very nice and professional, overall

Location great, the rest mediocrePosted Dec 1, 2013
Cons: Updates. Brighter room colours since there is limited natural light.
Location: Great access to train station, main piers, red light district and central square.
I would suggest this hotel due to location - proximity to the train station and central square etc. is very good. The facility was interesting, had some historical features but our room was dark, a bit chilly, and could use some refreshing (i.e. grout missing in bathroom tiles). Another upside, the staff was friendly.

Very good location for town centre and central station. Overall v good hotel. Only small issue is that it would benefit from a common hotel lobby/armchair area to relax And watch the world go by without needing to be your room or in the bar or restaurant . The restaurant could be reduced in size to help accommodate a lobby.
