Great hotel

Posted Mar 22, 2015
Pros: The rooms are great. The building is amazing. Free minibar, coffee machine and wine.
Cons: The spa can be better maintained - sometimes there were not enough towels and drinking cans weren't refilled often enough.
Location: It is pretty much in the center so the location is great.
One of the best hotels I've been to. Great location and facility. The building is beautiful and the room was great.

Excellent hotel

Posted Mar 21, 2015
The hotel was wonderful, in a great location and the service was excellent. we had to pay extra when we arrived for an extra bed for three nights, and also city tax on top. but I was not given a choice when ask to swipe a card against the room for extras. We didn't want any extras/would pay cash at the time if we did, and I didn't have a credit card with me so had to pay in cash. I was disappointed at this and then once I checked out I was left with loads cash that I then couldn't spend as we were going straight home. Swiping a card should be optional not mandatory at such a highly rated hotel.

Terrific experience in a unique building

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Location: Easy walking distance from Centraal Station. Not many restaurants nearby (except in very touristy areas). However, hotel Bar & Lounge is quite good.
Architecture and decor are truly unique and historic - just a great setting for a visit to Amsterdam. Room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. Staff was attentive and helpful. Bed was incredibly comfortable.

Pros: comfort, location, style.
Cons: twin beds to be separated
Location: only 5 mins from main station, bars and restaurants round the corner, only 10 mins pleasant walk to Dam Square
Fantastic location for railway station and all sights, offered free upgrade of room on arrival and choice of floors. Interesting and stunning unique building, huge room with complimentary mini bar. Spa facilities very welcome on a busy city break.

Lovely hotel in great location

Posted Mar 16, 2015
A great hotel, really comfortable room in an interesting hotel, with loads of great features. The concierge was brilliant with last minute Anne Frank bookings, we hadn't realised you had to book months in advance!! The only negative was the inability to get hold of anyone in the spa to book treatments. We tried for 2 days and couldn't contact anyone via phone or at the desk. Calls just went through to hotel reception who can't help as the spa is operated by a separate company.

Location: Perfect location, everything near by. Train,Restaurants,Shopping, attractions.
If the Ritz is what you are looking for, this is not for you. However, if you love to get into a great Old Amsterdam frame of mind, this is the BEST Choice.Travelers wanting to get into Europe, relax a few days and then, hop on the Train. (5 min. away), pay attention. Service, Service,Service. Location,Location,Location. Don't get me wrong, this is a GRAND HOTEL ! Over 100 years old. Attention to detail, with the Best Service in Amsterdam. We did not want to Leave. Expedia is spot on, with photo's and details. Now for the Building, very KOOL. Art Deco, well done ! In it's self the building is a joy to explore. Room 403, will not disappoint, no up-charge,... Perfect Love Nest, Free mini-bar ???? What ! What about the WELLNESS CENTER, you have to stay here to believe, this was complimentary. Again, if you need a warm and welcoming place to get you head together, before leaving for Paris, this is the place. You will find everything you need and then some.

Brilliant Hotel Central to Amsterdam

Posted Mar 11, 2015
Pros: Central to Amsterdam City and quality of hotel is of a very high standard
Cons: Breakfast not priced so expensive
Location: Central to Dam Square, Central Railway Station in Amsterdam and everything you would want to go and see is so near
Brilliant 5 star hotel close to the centre of Amsterdam, Highly recommended, our room was upgraded because it was our 40th wedding anniversary and on arrival in the room there was champagne and fruit and a lovely note from the Deputy Manager congratulating us. The hotel overlooks the river, the décor is of a high standard, the staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Every evening cleaning staff knocked on the door to see if we required anything else in our room which we thought was a lovely touch. The Concierge's at reception were also so helpful explaining in detail when you asked them anything especially Peter. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. The only downfall as with most hotels in Amsterdam the breakfast is not included and personally feel quite dear at £25 euros per person and 15 euros for continental, so found a lovely quaint café to eat breakfast at
