Beautiful building, great location - but not 5*

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: The location, the staff (who were very mostly very friendly and helpful), the swimming pool and spa, the free mini bar and Nespresso machine.
Cons: One of the concierges was rather abrupt, and asked if we had a room in the hotel (implying that we hadn't!). The room we had was small and hot.
Location: Very easy walk from the station, even with cases (although steps up to the entrance of the hotel). Also very easy walk to the main sights, cafes etc.
The hotel is a very easy walk from Centraal Station, and also from the main sights and attractions. It backs on to a very pleasant and photogenic area with canals, bridges, houseboats and multi-coloured townhouses. The hotel building is stunning, with all the original art deco features. I was slightly disappointed with our room - it was much smaller than I had anticipated, although it did have all the features described (free mini bar, separate rainfall shower, Nespresso machine). The air conditioning was variable, and seemed to stop working altogether one night (which made it very hot). There was very little hanging / drawer space for a double room, although there was also a quirky corner shelved cupboard which we could use. The swimming pool and spa area were lovely.

Excellent location, phenomenal rooms

Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Location, rooms, full service bar (coffee, snacks, liquor) that is free.
Cons: You have to climb about ten stairs to reach reception. It does create problem when travelling with stroller and large luggage.
Location: Anything that is close to Central station is walking distance. Don't pay 25 Euros for breakfast at the hotel. There are tons of eateries all over.
We got an upgrade, so we got a phenomenal room--with 12 feet high ceilings, 40 foot canal facing tall windows, with remote controlled curtains. The staff is extremely helpful and polite. Hotel has a unique style, not a cookie cutter like a Hilton or a Sheraton. It is an old trading house converted into a hotel.

Posted Jun 29, 2015

Featured on the riverboat trip

Posted Jun 26, 2015
Cons: Remote on the tv, as if that really matters?
Location: You are in Amsterdam, right in it. We didn't have to use any transport, everything is walking distance.
Cant fault it, as we passed on the river boat trip they even mentioned the building. Great room.

Lovely slightly quirky hotel in an old shipping building. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff go above and beyond to be helpful.

This hotel is only a few minutes walk from Centraal Station which makes it convenient for getting around the city. The room was a decent size with a number of amenities; complimentary minibar & coffee machine - restocked daily. Wellness area which included a beautiful pool, hot tub jacuzzi, sauna (70ºc, and 90ºc), and fitness equipment. Staff were attentive and helpful, we ordered room service during the early hours and the food was delicious and well received.

Pros: Location, staff and the building is charming.
This is an unusual hotel--older vintage building with a unique floor plan. Rooms and public areas are updated and comfortable, but you can get a little disoriented. Staff is very helpful.
