“Good hotel but price gouging on necessary services”
It is a good, clean hotel if you are on a business expense account so you don't care. Unfortunately neither Expedia nor Holiday Inn Web site mentions certain things. 1. Internet access is 22 Euro PER DAY. In room it is only wired. Wireless access is only in lobby and is an EXTRA CHARGE, 22 Euro again. I don't mind paid internet but in most European places it is about 7 Euro and includes both wired and wireless. Besides, can someone show me Ethernet jack on iPad or iPhone? 2. Breakfast for 22 Euro per person is your only option. Hotel breakfast is typically not cheap, but since there are no other options around, some other option should be provided. Fortunately, Novotel across the street has cofee shop where you can get coffee, croissant ad juice for about 8 Euro. Also, air conditioning is not American version, it is a 'climate control' thing that cannot really reach any temperature below outside-3 degrees centigrade (or 6F). So if it is 90 outside, good luck, all you get is 84. Hotel reception had to provide us with portable AC unit since with 2 adults and 2 kids in the room no one could sleep in 'unusually hot weather'. Let me remind hotel management, that 'unusual' is here to stay. Global warming and such.
“just okay”
Overall the hotel was very nice. The room was too small to be comfortable with 2 adults and two children. Restaurant on site was nice, but expensive. The hotel is not close to anything convenient, such as other restaurants, stores, cafe, etc. So our only option was to eat at the hotel. Only a short walk to catch the tram to downtown. There is a very nice, large park across from the hotel. Nice to let the kids play.
“Too much fun”
The location proved to be ideal. Train station or buses within close walking distance of hotel. More importantly, the customer service was outstanding.
“Great hotel, however, a little out of the way.”
Super friendly staff. Clean, comfortable hotel. Nice pub/restaurant for a quick drink or pint. I recommend the breakfast buffet. Well worth the price. The only draw back is the 15 minute tram ride to the downtown area. However, it lies right outside the front door and is convenient enough. I would go back.
“Good hotel, great staff”
I chose this hotel becuase it was conveniently located to downtown and had a gym...well, at least they say they have one. the gym wasn't anything to write howm about, and as an avid fitness fanatic I was very disappointed. I could have stayed in another hotel int he area for a lower rate and skipped the workout. The staff were extremely pleasant and the location is very close to the RAI station (less than a 2 minute walk). from the RAI to downtown Amsterdam was no more than 15-20 minutes, a real time saver compared to driving into the city center. Parking was EUR 25 for 24 hours including in/out priveledges. Considering the cost of parking in the city is generally difficult, it is not too bad a price to pay and take public transport. They could offer the gesture to subsidize the parking though and add on a few EUR to the room rate. The restaurant is expensive and the selection is limited, however it does fill the hunger gap if you cannot get into the city for a meal. All in all, it was a good experience and I would recommend this hotel.
“Great Hotel = tottaly recommended”
Fantastic hotel i totally recommend; The only things that did not satisfy myself were: 1- There are no free internet acess in the hotel (if you want to use you have to pay 22 euros for that) and even in very cheap hotels they offer that. 2 - Every morning the lady knocked my door for cleaning, that should pass latter
“Good choice”
Nice hotel, clean, attentive staff. Perfect location: nearby trains and trams. Using internet is very expensive.
“holiday inn amsterdam”
the hotel is situated near a tram and a train station..so this is a very good plus for visiting the city BUT the heating system in the room didn't work very well so it was pretty cold inside..they "fixed it" fast but not too much improvement..also you had to pay a "city tax" at the end of the trip
