“Great Hotel, Great Location.”

Me and my partner stayed in Hotel Amsterdam De Roode Leeuw for two nights and we would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone. The location is perfect as it is only a few minutes away from central station and only meters away from Dam Square. It is also walking distance (less then 15mins) away from a number of attractions and tourist hotspots like the Red Light District, Anne Franks House, Amsterdam Dungeons and Rembrandt Square is also 15 mins away. It has trams outside along with bus stops so getting around to the further parts of the city is easy and there are plently of resturants and shops nearby. The Hotel itself is everything we wanted, clean, safe, great location and great staff who were very friendly and helpful. We booked the comfort double room but was lucky enough to get a free upgrade to the superior room so our room was a very pleasent surprised. The room was very spacious, clean and well equipped (except an iron) and we was very lucky with the upgrade. If all the rooms in the hotel are like the room we stayed in the I would highly recommend anyone to stay in this hotel. The only issue we had with it was that it wasn't the most silent hotel we've ever stayed in, we know that if you stay in a city centre hotel you should expect to hear the usual city noises but we could clearly hear noises inside the hotel like people walking around upstairs and doors shutting in the corridor etc; But that is the only critisism I would have about this hotel

“Great Location”

The hotel it'self was very clean and the staff very pleasant and helpful.. The location was great as we could walk to all the places of interest with ease. If we were unsure of directions the staff directed us very well and were very helpful. When we first arrived i found that the hairdryer in my room was broken and reported this immediately as i did not want to be thought to be the one who broke it. The staff explained that there are some broken ones in the hotel which is still under plans to complete it's refurbishment, and i was offered a replacement hardryer straight away, which i didn't take as i had my own with me. The only thing we did not like was the bathroom in my son's room. He and his partner had been given a refurbished room which only had a small openplan wetroom. The toilet, shower and wash basin were in a confined space with no cubicle for the shower, and only a full frosted glass door to it's entrance, giving no privacy at all to it's users. Myself and my partner had a room that had not been refurbished, and the bathroom was more than ample in size and very private, with a wooden door at it's entrance and a full sliding screen along the bath, and gave the option to take a bath or a shower. We do intend to return to Amsterdam at some point, and will be hoping to stay at this hotel again, although i know we will be disappointed if we get an open-plan bathroom like that of my son's.

“Well Worth it”

I have been to Amsterdam staying in all varieties of hotels and hostels over the years. This time I decided to spend a little more and it was well worth it. The hotel could not be faulted and it is located 5 mins from the main station allowing easy access to the airport and also very close to all the sights of Amsterdam. Would stay again and will do. Top Notch!

“Excellent Location”

I was very happy with the location of the Hotel. It is an easy walk from Central Station, Coffee Shops, Red Light District, Dam Square and descent food. The Hotel is also on the main strip which felt safe. The lowest tier rooms are very small. I paid for the second tier and it was definitely worth the money.

“Tulips from Amsterdam”

Our two night stay at Hotel Amsterdam was comfortable. We were upgraded to a double, quite a large sized room (for Amsterdam) with seating corner (with tea/coffee facility-fridge) and modern bathroom with shower, but no shower curtain/door. The hotel is quiet and secure- we did have free wifi. The staff were efficient and friendly, they assisted us with our 20kg bags (there is a decent lift) and all seem fluent in various languages. This hotel is located an easy 10 minute walk from Centraal Station and just next to the "Dam" - the popular city centre-. We thought the hotel's rate was fair, and we consider staying again if returning to this old but fun City. Greg&Jill Sydney-Australia.

“Great location”

I really liked the location of this hotel, right smack in the middle of the city. There's great transportation options right outside the hotel front door, but it's also easy to walk to any part of the city if you like to walk. The staff were really nice and helpful at all times.

“Ideally Located”

This small boutique hotel is ideally located for someone who wants to explore Amsterdam. It is about 500 meters from the Centraal Station (train) and less than 50 meters from Dam Square, the main square in the city. From here you can walk to anywhere in the city core. For those of you from North America: the rooms are small, but this should be expected. All the amenities are there, however, and they are very comfortable.

“This IS Amsterdam”

If you want to see and experience Amsterdam, this is the hotel for you. The trams are right at the front door, the Central Station is just a few blocks away, and you are at the Dam. You are in the center of Honky Tonk with the Royal Palace a few hundred feet to your right. The staff is very helpful, the hotel is safe, and the room was very clean for all of my ten days stay. The room was small and my window overlooked an alley. This is why I travel.
