Convenient locationPosted Nov 2, 2014
Pros: Friendly helpful staff and nice facilities - different than a standard hotel as it is a historic old building (apparently an orphanage).
Location: Everything is close
Easy walking distance the conference centre at NIT and short tram ride to the town centre.

Amazing hotel, amazing staff! Would go back again!Posted Oct 27, 2014
Hotel was perfect location as it's away from the lively town centre but close enough on the trams etc. lovely and clean, modern restaurant and bar. Old character hotel but has been given a makeover and rooms are lovely. Hotel staff really friendly and helpful. Loved our stay.

Off the beaten track in AmsterdamPosted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: I loved the quiet neighborhood--parks nearby--and the extremely helpful staff. The interiors are lovely, too.
Location: The location is away from the crowded and touristy museum quarter, but easily accessible to it via the number 3 tram stop down the block.
I stayed at Hotel Arena because it was near a conference I was attending. From my arrival, I was consistently pleased with this gem tucked away on the east side of Amsterdam. The staff of the hotel and the restaurant are pleasant and helpful, offering maps, menu alterations, and getting one small electrical problem fixed in my room in minutes. The rooms are comfortable, with thoughtful modern additions to a gorgeous historic interior and exterior. The restaurant and bar are friendly, the food's good, the service is thoughtful. They make airport taxis, tram tickets, local maps all simple and easy for the guests. I stayed for 6 nights, using the hotel for work, entertaining, and rest.

Quiet location within 20 minute walk to old townPosted Oct 22, 2014
Cool hotel in Eastern side of city. Tram stops close but only 20 minute walk to centre/old town. Room not cleaned each day. Just fresh towels. Dirty glasses left for 3 days. Overall would recommend this hotel though.

Great expectations, disappointed though..Posted Sep 20, 2014
We trevelled to Amsterdam 3 weeks ago and stayed to Arena hotel for two nights. The hotel is nicely situated outside the busy and touristic centre and gives you the opportunity to choose to be in the centre and out of it. We were pleased with the hotel facilities and the room styling and bedding but the room was not cleaned properly with spider webs and dust everywhere. The most disappointing part though came when asked to give card details for a security deposit. We left Amsterdam and were reassured by two members of the staff that our money will be credited/released back to our account in 24-48 hours. Finally after several emails and two and a half weeks of waiting the safety deposit was released. Just to mention that in none of the emails nor in the telephone contact wehad we heard the word SORRY.

Friendly and relaxing.Posted Aug 30, 2014
We loved our stay at Hotel Arena. It's a quick tram ride to the outer ring of the city near the zoo. So was perfectly quiet after a busy day. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful, for the price you can't really beat it anywhere in town. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself was a picture. We will definitely stay again if visiting Amsterdam again!

Huge hotel with a surprising amount of personalityPosted Aug 26, 2014
Had a great time staying at arena! Rooms and facilities are excellent and staff are friendly and helpful. Located close to several sights and tramlinks/metro for a quick ride to all other parts of the city. Despite the bad weather we had a great time!

Nice Hotel but a few issues, they TAX your depositPosted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: I have to say it is a spotlessly clean hotel, the rooms are very clean, the staff friendly and they get issues sorted when they arise.
Cons: Plumbing checks when rooms are cleaned. Beds should be as stated. The staff shouldn't tell you your deposit will be fully refunded when it's not.
Location: Not a bad location (quiet), best route into central Amsterdam is via Metro, about 7 minutes walk away (then 3 stops to Central station). Don't walk it
A nice hotel at first appearance but experienced a few issues with the room: There is little to no storage (especially for cases). There is a small cupboard with a free safe in it, but no shelves. There is a mezzanine floor with a kettle, the kettle isn’t wireless so (glass) cups of water have to be carried up a small spiral staircase from the wet room. The bathroom was a wet room; on having a short shower the next 20 mins were spent mopping the bedroom floor with the towels. Once reported the staff got this fixed. Next morning toilet was backed up, (apparently this can happen when it rains), again once reported staff fixed it. Bed, described as a king size bed, NO, two singles pushed together with tiny tables at each side. The beds were comfortable though. On arrival a 100euro deposit is taken via credit card, you are told this will be returned via cash on departure. NO. They tax you on your Deposit, therefore you don’t get it all back! I’ve been to Amsterdam 4 times now and this is the 1st time I’ve ever come across this, how can you tax something that isn’t a transaction?!

Really greatPosted Aug 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
Very nice hotel, rooms are really swanky and have there own style. Modern and clean. Everything we needed. It's got a traditional Amsterdam feel and the location is nice as it's not too far from the centre (we got a tram) and hotel is quiet wouldn't know you were in the middle of a city.
