“Great location”
An excellent breakfast provided; good quality and good variety of food. Rooms a bit on the small side but seems that this is the norm for Europe..still very comfortable and newly renovated. Good location close to central station, canal tours, tourist info., and trams. Would stay here again. Front desk staff very helpful when asked; otherwise a bit on the reserved side.
“Great hotel, great location in Amsterdam”
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Avenue for one night in December (the night B4 our flight back to the US from Schiphol, after a 2 week trip visiting the Weihnachtsmarkts in Germany. We were looking for something not too far from Amsterdam Centraal Train Station, and this was at most a couple of blocks away. Check in was easy, and the room was probably the nicest of the rooms we had on our trip (we mostly stayed at 3 star hotels while in Germany, since the dollar is so weak now.) After settling in, we headed out to the Singelgracht and had a very nice, long walk along the canals and dinner before returning to the room. The bed was comfortable, the shower great, and there was an extensive breakfast buffet included in the price. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, whether just for a single night, or for a longer stay in Amsterdam. The rates are really good considering what hotel rates are mostly like in Amsterdam. There were no negatives to the stay.
“Location, location, location!”
I was with a group of 5 women on our way back to the US from Tanzania. We made a 24 hour stopover on Amsterdam to break up the travel and this hotel was perfect for us. It is so close to the train station that we rode the train from the airport and walked to the hotel. After we checked in we walked to the canal bus and toured around the city. At the end of the day we took a suggestion from the front desk and walked a block to eat at Humphries, which was very good. The rooms were modest but comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was just what we needed before heading back to the airport to finish our trip home. Great choice and would definitely stay again.
“A great hotel!!”
We stayed at the Avenue Hotel for 2 nights in April for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We chose it as it was reasonably priced and close to all the attractions. It was excellent value for money. The rooms were extremely clean and there was no noise from people walking to and from there rooms. Security was good as you needed to use your key card to access the lift to get to your room. The cost of the room included breakfast and there was a choice of cooked or continental - both of which were lovely and plentiful. I would recommend this hotel and stay again x x
“Great central location, small but very clean rooms.”
The Avenue Hotel was a fantastic room for the price. Located between Central Station and Dam Square it is a great place to stay if you plan to walk the city. Staff was friendly and the price was 1/2 of some of the other hotels in the area. The rooms were small, the bed took over half of the floor space, but the bathroom was spacious. The breakfast at the hotel offered a good fresh selection of meats and cheese, eggs, bacon, sausage, 1" pancakes, cold cereal and juice. Overall a excellent value.
“Will be back next year”
Great location 5 mins from railway station
“Avenue Hotel, great location, great stay”
Great Hotel! I've stayed in several hotels in Amsterdam and for the location and quality of the breakfast this has been my best stay so far. Friendly staff, clean room and from all of the descriptions I had read prior to booking everything was spot on. My room was a single room, meaning a single bed in a small room. Exactly what I expected, didn't go to Amsterdam to sit in my hotel room. Bed was comfortable, cleaning service did their job everyday. Bathroom was small, shower came out of the wall much like other places I've stayed in Europe, no big deal, the floor had a nice water resistant coating and the shower head was nice and strong. The breakfast was great, much variety and very good quality food. Great display of the food as well. The staff was helpful and the hotel doors are locked after a certain time so people can't just roam into the hotel. Out of all the hotels I've stayed in Amsterdam this is the only one I would book again. It's always a chance anyway, hotels in the center of Amsterdam are going to be hit or miss and the Avenue Hotel is certainly a hit.
“Almost everything you need”
Took train from airport to central station (8 euros for return ticket), hotel is less than 10 mins walk from station. Hotel in really good location for visiting all attractions, clean comfortable room, only thing missing was no coffee or tea making facilities in room but there is coffee machine in foyer, buffet breakfast all you could want & as much as you want. Would definately use hotel again.
“Would always use this hotel if we go to Amsterdam again.”
The hotel was very central and was in a good state of repair. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast provided was excellent. Couldn't have been more satisfied!
“More than adequate”
My room was ready when I arrived at 900 am after an overnight flight. The room was a single and quite small (think dorm room) but it was more than adequate as I was sight-seeing all day anyway. The free breakfast was a great start to the day; fuel up and ready to go. Lots of hot and cold selection. The location was conveniently close to the train station and Dam Square but not a short distance to the Museum Quarter. All in all, this place met my needs.
