“Nice, but glitches”
One pillow per person. Had to ask for additional pillows as no others were in the room. Could not call out on the room telephone without placing a deposit and even after placing a deposit, we could not utilize the telephone in the room. Appreciated the fact that they had a computer available in a public area, but it did have some issues. The room was clean and well maintained. The staff members were gracious with responding to requests.
“Near but far enough away”
The hotel was light, bright, airy and modern. The impression I got was that they tried to create an oasis of calm in the buzz that is Amsterdam. They were successful. I loved that the hotel is just outside of the city centre, far enough to lose escape the hustle and bustle but yet close enough to get to by bus. Just head over to Amstel Station, a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and hop on the number 59 bus that takes you straight to Centraal Station in about 20-25 mins.
“Dirty Room-Extra Charges-Pushy Housekeeping”
On one occasion after checking in, we arrived to find our bathroom had not even been cleaned. The housekeeping staff was gone for the day (at 3 PM) so we had to use a makeshift cleaner (hydrogen peroxide) to clean the bathroom so it was useable. There was urine on the toilet seat, hair everywhere from the previous occupants, and the sink was filthy. The hotel is new, which, including the hotel's location to Amstel Station, is the only big positive for the hotel. I choose this hotel because it was close to the school I was attending. The housekeeping was terrible. Excluding the dirty room upon check in, you either received too much service (when you didn't need any) or you had to track the staff down when you needed room cleaning. We had the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door one day and housekeeping came and knocked on our door three different times. It made me feel a little uneasy since one day housekeeping came and we asked for just new towels and the trash to be removed and then when we left the hotel and came back, the room had been rearranged, including my laptop, which had been shut and unplugged. On the other hand, we asked for room service one day and they told us they would be back in 5 minutes. Two hours later, the housekeeping had still not returned so we called the front desk and they told us housekeeping did not like coming into the room when people were in there. We felt extremely uncomfortable with this hotel cleaning staff and the safety of our possessions.
“Very nice hotel in Amsterdam”
Good location near Amstel station. the room was very nice. Air condition, refrigerator, free wifi. The only problem is with the expensive parking...
“Unbiased”
We were surprised with the quality of the facility. It was very clean and the staff was excellent to work with. The baggage hold on check out day was very convienent. Location is just outside city center but not difficult to get to with the train/bus station just across the road. Only negative is the surrounding area seemed a bit sketchy but as long as you don't cross the river I think it would be fine.
