General a good hotel

Posted Aug 24, 2014
Cups in room were dirty on arrival. They could have replenished the tea and coffee daily but didn't. Apart from that a cosy hotel close to town by tram.

Great Location

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Location!!
Cons: NEEDS NEW CARPET!!
Location: Location in charming neighbourhood, close to all amenities ( tram, restaurant, grocery store ) beside a beautiful park!
Great location, charming neighbourhood close to a great park to bike in. Expect small rooms, we found it comfortable. Carpets are terrible, should have been removed 10 years ago. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast had good enough selection, boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, fruit, yogurt and toast.

hotel in a quiet residential area.

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: residential area - quiet area
Cons: new carpeting in room
Location: lovely park; many restaurants in the neighbourhood;
although 'out of city centre' the hotel is at the end of a grand park to stroll through on the way into Amsterdam City Centre. It is easily assessable via tram. Ground room floor was nice and cool and quiet.

Okay price but in desperate need of refurb

Posted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: Quiet area. Competitive price.
Cons: Decor. Friendliness of staff.
Location: Out of the city centre action but nice area and in summer provides a great walk in and out of town through the park.
They managed to mess up and gave us a twin rather than a double. Although this was rectified the following night there was no apology and they actually treated us as troublemakers for insisting we got the room we booked. The decor is horrible with a disgusting brown carpet, which is cleaned, but it all needs dating. Our room carpet had a strange stain on it (looked like dried sick) Shower room does not drain properly and has no ventilation so basically stank. A mop is provided but I don't go on holiday in order to mop shower floors! Location is nice and quiet and allows a great walk through the park into town but takes 20mins by tram. Allow an extra 20euros for night taxi from town. Price is okay but add another 5.5% for yet another tax on top of what you pay through this site.

Nice area, well situated and cosy.

Posted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: Close to local amenities. Nice, quiet area. Easy commute to the city centre.
Cons: Bathroom drainage!
Location: Located on a quite street next to Vondelpark, plenty of shops and bars/pubs nearby.
Upon arrival we were given a concise introduction and briefing to the hotel, the room was relatively compact but excellent value for the price we payed. Cannot comment on the breakfast as we ate elsewhere each morning. The only real dissappointment was the shower/bathroom, the water would drain properly and as a result the entire bathroom would flood.

Nice hotel in a convenient location.

Posted Jun 7, 2014
Pros: It was very close to the park.
Location: We walked through the park everyday while there. There was always a lot of people bike riding, running or just hanging out.
Close to restaurants and park. Room clean but small. Since we did not spend much time in there it worked out fine for us. Hotel staff was helpful.

Quiet Residential area Hotel

Posted May 21, 2014
Pros: The view from the back of the hotel, over onto neighbouring houses back gardens (peeking into the beautiful houses too) and the lovely neighbourhood.
Cons: Nice, basic hotel, out of the city centre, but easily accessible by tram
Location: 5 min walk from the Tram stop, just outside the City Cafe (nice coffee and treats), several bars/cafes & Vondel park in easy walking distance
Lovely residential area backing onto a lovely lake - ask for a room at the back of the hotel with a view! Our first night we arrived very late and got room 1 ... literally next door to reception. It was tiny, bathroom was tiny, you had to sit sideways on the toilet and the shower leaked all over the floor. However, we had asked for a twin room and the next morning this was speedily rectified. When we got back the next evening we were in the desired room, on second floor with the most glorious view of the lake and other houses which back onto it. The rooms were very clean, the bathrooms are adequate, the second room was almost like you were in a different hotel! Staff were polite, we didn't use any of the other facilities - instead breakfasting at the City Cafe on Koninginneweg - right where you get off the tram for the hotel. (Sadly not open Sundays!). Sunday morning we walked from the hotel through beautiful neighbourhood to the Vondelpark & admired the open spaces, walked on up to Leidseplein for coffee and caught the tram back to Central Station to park our luggage.
