small but okPosted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: I liked the fact that you could come and go as you wanted with your key card. If the hotel was shut you just waved you key card at the card moniter
Cons: Air conditioning upstairs would be beneficial and more safety around the windows as there is a big drop if you open the windows.
Location: The vicinity to vondel park is amazing as well as to the museum area, I also really like he fact that it was not in old Amsterdam.
On the whole I enjoyed our stay in Hotel City Garden, I did find the room small and I am not that tall so anyone taller than me would struggle, also we had no air conditioning in that room. We had been offered another room to start with but they had 2 single beds which me and my parnter decided wasn't any good. That room was larger and had air conditioning but was in the basement and had not much natural light. So it was a matter of compromise, the staff were friendly and helpful and the cleanliness on the whole was ok as well although my partner did find hairs on one of the pillows.

Nice hotel in convenient spotPosted Jul 14, 2014
The hotel isn't super fancy for the price you pay but it is average. It's clean, in order, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel's location is right in the heart of Amsterdam so everything is in walking distance which is great! The room was a little warm but you can open the windows and it's comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel if only going to Amsterdam for a few nights.

Very Small room -Posted Jun 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
Horrible stay. For the money they charge they provided me with a very very small room. I felt claustrophobic in there. Do not stay here - the cleanliness, breakfast and staff were all horrible.

If you're over 6ft 2in, stay away.Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: Location, staff
Cons: Toilet leg room, air-conditioning
Location: Vondelpark, Museum Quarter, High end shops, tram to station,
I recently stayed (early June) at the Hotel City Garden for two nights with my girlfriend. Naturally, we spent most of our stay exploring the sights, sounds and smells of Amsterdam, and didn't need the luxury that other hotels offer. However it must be said that the hotel staff were very welcoming and knowlegdable - providing us with a free map of the city. The hotel is located a stone's throw from Vondelpark, which is perfect for an post-dinner stroll. It is also in the middle of what we dubbed the 'Mayfair of Amsterdam'; a series of streets home to some of the most expensve shops known to man. The Museum Quarter is a 3 minute walk away. There were however a couple fo minor problems with our ground floor room. It was a hot weekend, and after walking around the city it would have been nice to come back to an air conditioned room. However as we entered the hotel lobby and our subsequebtly our bedroom, we were hit with a wall of heat. There was no air-con to turn on, and no radiator to turn down, so we had to put up with it. The second issue was with the amount of leg room the toilet provided. As we are a young, agile couple, we were able to squeeze into the space provided; but anyone over 6ft 2in or anyone who is considerably over-weight would have to use the toilet at the end of the hallway.

Good location, standard 3-star European hotel roomPosted May 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel was in a good location in a very nice area of Amsterdam. The room was small (as most European rooms are). It was on a quiet street so we didn't have any issue with noise.

Great hotel, great service, great location - would definitely recommend. Although a little out of the city centre - access was very easy!!!

Ok, but a little to much moneyPosted Apr 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is fine. Rooms are smaller than they appear in the photos. Breakfast is too crowded. Location is great, right next to the park! Considering the other prices in town, very good deal. Considering price vs. what you have "ok", because its Amsterdam.

Not badPosted Apr 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
Near bus stops, near Van Gogh Museum. The bed is comfortable but the shower not. Nothing special, the breakfast is not bad as well.
