Great location

Posted May 18, 2015
We were upgraded to a superior room. This room was at the rear with light only via a atrium type shaft which also heated up shock meant because of no air con we had windows open adding to extra noise. The rest of the hotel is stunning I just would refer this room 730 as superior.

A beautiful, well located hotel

Posted May 14, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: It would be lovely if dinner was available in the restaurant of the hotel
Location: Located on the Singel Canal, it is a 5 min walk to Anne Frank's House and also to Dam Square. All major attractions can easily be reached on foot.
We stayed here for three nights during a short break to Amsterdam. Although it is only small, the hotel is stunning. Housed in an old town house on the Singel canal, it is decorated appropriately in traditional style with a wealth of well polished mahogany woodwork, plush furnishings, traditional period wallpapers and glittering chandeliers. Vases of fresh flowers are in abundance. A wide range of teas and coffees together with pastries and small cakes and biscuits (all of which are complimentary) are available through the day on a self service basis. Breakfast is served until 11am in the restaurant and there is an excellent selection of both cooked and cold dishes. No other meals are served in the restaurant but there are limited bar snacks available and all meals plus dinner can be served in your room. We had a basic room which was not huge but very comfortable and this too was beautifully decorated. The room looked out onto a very small internal courtyard but we did not mind this as it made the room very quiet. The widow was dressed with voils as well as curtains so it was possible to be private from the room facing. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. They will book trips and tickets for local museums etc and suggest local places to eat. The hotel is well located and it is easy to walk to all the main attractions in the city within 20 minutes. Each room with an i pad so internet access was straight forward. All in all a brilliant place!

Great hotel on the Singel Canal

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: Location, spacious room, helpful receptions staff
Wonderful location--lots of good restaurants, tram, and on-off bus stops nearby. Would be nice to have someone help with luggage from taxi into hotel--a "checking out" guest helped us. A wacky desk guy checked us in--incorrect change, poor directions, and inattentiveness to us and everyone else. We weren't impressed although others were helpful throughout our two night stay. Breakfast in bar was cheaper and actually better than restaurant (18 Euros!!).

日本人は私達のみのようでしたが丁寧に対応して頂きました。 部屋はこじんまりとしていてヨーロッパのホテルといった感じです。 フロントにあるコーヒーメーカーはとても重宝しました。

Hôtel de charme, idéalement placé

Posted Apr 20, 2015

Nice looking old Dutch Hotel on a canal

Posted Apr 11, 2015
Pros: The hotel staff were unfailingly helpful and efficient and all spoke good English.
Cons: The wooden suitcase shelf inside the door was so narrow, if you tried to open your suitcase it and contents fell on the floor.
Location: Nice little shops and two good dinners, one in a Thai restaurant one in a little tavern.
We were met by a shuttle bus which took us to the hotel which was nice. The desk staff were efficient and helpful. The room with a canal view which I had requested was unavailable and we were then shown along some very long, dark, narrow twisting corridors to one of the worst rooms I have ever seen. It was perfectly clean but decorated in mustard yellow and orange and the only window was into a very small 8' x 8' well in the middle of the hotel. I felt it was claustrophobic and a death trap had there been a fire, one couldn't have even jumped out of the window! I went down to the desk - and for the first time in my life asked to be moved, which they did (in spite of being pretty fully booked) and we got a room on the 2nd floor, much lighter and bigger, only one drawer in the entire room, so my husband used his suitcase as a drawer for the 3 nights we were there. There was a safe in the hanging cupboard which was useful. There were so many big cushions on the sofa it was quite difficult to sit down! We opened the windows the first night as our room was quite hot and the heating control didn't seem to respond. It was a big mistake - people in Amsterdam don't go to bed even mid-week....we were kept awake all night by revelers and traffic, followed in the early hours by street cleaning and dust wagons. I didn't ask to be changed again but we slept with the windows closed after that. I think if we go to Amsterdam again I would try somewhere else.

Great place to stay with family

Posted Apr 8, 2015
Lovely room for our family (kids sharing a lovely big double sofa-bed). Great location within the city. Lovely breakfast, also liked the complimentary drinks and sweets available! Staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. We would definitely like to come back and stay here again.

Very pleasant, but a little pricey for what it was

Posted Mar 26, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Reception staff while very friendly, need some smartening up.
This is a lovely little hotel which is centrally located. The staff were friendly, but sometimes seemed a little disorganised (i.e not 5-star slick). The room was cosy (i.e. a little on the small side), but well decorated. It's in a neighbourhood with a good selection of restaurants and cafes which was great, as we didn't book in for breakfast. All in all a pleasant stay, but I think that is didn't deliver the quality we expected considering the price we paid.
