“Basic but Brilliant!”

This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin, it's cheap and cheerfull... It's about 5 minutes walk from Central Station and Dam Square... and all the coffee shops. The rooms were very basic but the beds were cleaned every day and were comfortable, the towels were also changed every day and the room had an on suite shower and toilet (bouns at this price). For the price I have never stayed in a better budget hotel in Amsterdam and this was my 13th trip :-)

“Practical, centrally loacated.”

This hotel is located between Centraal Station and Dam Square - ideal for sightseeing. The downside of the central location is that it's noisy all night. (My window faced the street and I enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city MOST of the time.) Because it is a classic European townhouse hotel, the rooms are very small, you have have to learn to sleep with a duvet, and no washcloth is provided. It was difficult to regulate the water temperature of the shower. The TV provided only basic service, but why would you want to watch TV in downtown Amsterdam? I relied on the phone in my room, since my "mobile" doesn't work in Europe. The electrical circuits were adequate and the room was kept very clean by the janitorial staff. There are works from local artists on the walls which brightens the place considerably. The desk staff was courteous and helpful. In short: basic accomodation, great location.

“toasty, convenient, clean, good service”

I had a couple issues to resolve prior to arriving, and the staff were really prompt and thorough in emailing with me before our trip. My husband is disabled, and they booked our room right on the lobby, extremely helpful, cheery, nice people, all shifts. Our room was clean, the bathroom new and spotless with outstanding hot water, lots of hot water, hot enough to make tea with it. We had two radiators, were very comfy with fresh towels, fresh sheets, was quite nice to me. The location couldn't have been better, as my husband's disabled and couldn't go far at all, so with a dozen restaurants within steps, numerous coffee shops within steps, we were able to do a lot of people watching without having to hurt him.

“It was awesome!”

The hotel was very nice. It's situated in good place for pretty much anything. If you want to party, site see, go to dinner, shop...it's walking distance for everything. Free breakfast is always great when you're hung over. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great time in Amsterdam.

“Great value for money”

When you're going for a few days hoping to fit in as much sightseeing as you can, what you really want in a hotel is location. The Hotel Manofa is located right in the middle of it all, on Damrak, just down the road from the Station, a stone's throw from the Red Light district and easy walking distance from most of the places of interest. On top of that Manofa is a very affordable hotel. Ok, toilets and showers are shared with other rooms and access involves leaving your room and spending a few seconds walking along a corridor, and there are no tea and coffee making facilities and no trouser press in the rooms, but that's not really what you need unless you're on a business trip in which case you wouldn't be paying for the place yourself. You do get to pop into the restaurant next door to make yourself cheese and ham toasties as the included breakfast, and there's a telly in the room if you really want it. Most importantly we managed, for our 3 nights in Amsterdam to fit in the Anne Frank house, van Gogh museum, Sex Museum, Diamond Factory, even spending one whole day in bed to get over a massive hangover, and walked everywhere, not using trams, buses or bikes, thanks to the location (and affordability) of Hotel Manofa. Also useful was the system of paper keys, which allowed us to always leave the key with reception, so it didn't matter if we were both out and separated because either of us would be able to get back into the room as the key would always be with reception.

“Nice little Corner, right across the Red Light District”

Basically it was comfortable - I was there during January so it got cold at nights, the heating system wasn't necessarily helpful and the window seemed to letting in some air. They kind of made up for it with the extra sheets left in the closet. The TV was cool, I got several CNN channels in English and the rest was in Dutch, but overall it was fine. The bathrooms were small, but larger than what I expected considering that it is European architecture. The place is the perfect spot if you want to hop on the tram system and get around town - it's literally 3 blocks away from the Central Station that connects you to the most important lines in Amsterdam. It's also got plenty of places to eat around it - many Indonesian places, but also Argentinian steak houses, a few KFC's, McDonald's, local Dutch cuisine, and an interesting little restaurant called "Teasers" (kind of like Hooters, but slightly less worn.) There's an internet cafe two doors down, which is perfect if you need internet access, and there's a coffeehouse in the Grasshopper's across the small canal right in front of the hotel. Staff's friendly too.

“great location”

The Hotel Manofa is a good hotel to stay if you are going to party. It is right by most of the coffeshops, a couple of blocks from the red light district, near all the nightclubs, and even bettter about a five minute walk from central station. If you are going to amsterdam to party this is a good place to stay. If this is a family trip i rwould recommend another spot. If you are going to amsterdam you have to check out Barney's Coffeshop by far one of the best coffeeshops in amsterdam.

“Cheap & Cheerful”

This hotel is in a perfect location for accessing all that Amsterdam has to offer, 5 Minutes from the train station, 2 minutes from Dam Square. The Staff are friendly and polite and you can leave your luggage there after you have checked out. This is a Budget hotel so do not expect everything in your room to work, but you get what you pay for, this is Very good Budget hotel. The most important thing is-- Dont pay extra for Breakfast!! It is awful, Hard bread and cold coffee.

“Great location, not much of a room”

The hotel is right in the middle of everything. The room was pretty bare.. but comfortable..
