Not my cup of tea

VERY tiny room with a damp/ mouldy smell (they put an electric air freshener in to mask smell). Uncomfortable beds, with a shower that didn't really get hot along with the bathroom door not being able to close. Short bike ride from centre of Amsterdam in a quieter location. Wifi didn't work in our room. I believe too overpriced for what was received. Wouldn't recommend. However, reception is being renovated so check in/check out is at hotel Iris down the street, the reception staff there are extremely friendly, kind and helpful.

Look for another hotel

Location: it is about a 45 minute walk to Central station, but 5 mins to the Heineken Experience
I turned up at 5:00pm to find the place closed. After 10mins knocking at the door a person walking along the footpath told me to go to Hotel Iris as they are the same hotel. He was right, you have to use the other place as reception. Shame they couldn't leave a sign on the door telling you what to do. The room is very bare and small. Breakfast was good but if you wanted a Tea bag it cost you extra. Not exactly close to the city centre. Will definitely stay somewhere else next time.

This past summer I stayed at the Iris. The Iris was booked so I booked the sister hotel "The Max". On Thursday evening when I returned to my room, I found the door to my room open. There was a cleaning tool in the bathroom. Looked like something to take water off tiles. NOTHING was missing from my belongings. Perhaps the staff was called away. I reported the incident to the Iris office the following morning. The cleaning tool was still in the bathroom when I checked out on Sun. I had a lap top, an I pad and a 35 mm camera in my room. Had they been missing who would have covered the loss?

Great stay

Pros: Clean, quiet garden room, good basic breakfast, good wifi,friendly Manager Marcel! and staff, nearby, restaurants, market, tram stop.
Cons: Steep stairs, but managable.
Location: Next door to market, and supermarket
We had a great stay, we had a garden room. The room was clean and small but enough space for us. breakfast was basic but plenty of it. Marcel the manager was friendly and very helpful. Some building work was taking place but Mario the builder was also very helpful. All the staff were friendly and spoke English. We would certainly go back to this hotel. Hazel & Pat

There is a €20 key/remote control deposit that you don't find out about until you there. We were given a room in the basement, across from the dining room. When you walk into the room it appears that you are actually walking into the bathroom when entering the room. The room was very noisy in the morning with prep for breakfast and guests in the dining room. No toiletries in the room. Shower is sloped incorrectly so there is a squeegee in the shower to push the water to the drain. The toilet is in the shower. The beds are very uncomfortable. The bedding is a fitted sheet and a comforter. The bedding is very old, scratchy and full of holes. Cracks in the wall. There was a hole in the wall that had paper towel stuffed in it. Came into the reception area one night around 9:00pm to the smell of cigarette smoke after having to sign a contract as a guest not to smoke in the hotel. Listened to the front desk worker’s TV show from our room. No maid service at all. One towel per person for the stay. Only electrical outlets in the room are above the bed which makes it very difficult to charge electronics over night. The place looks dirty. The room was dirty when we arrived. The toilet had not been flushed. Room smelled of cigarette smoke from someone smoking outside. When other guests enter the dining room it sounds like someone is entering our room. Black mold in the shower. Lower flush on toilet did not work Would like to give it a lower rating that all 1 but that is not available

Great location

Pros: Beds were really comfortable and the hotel is in a great location
Cons: Carpet underneath the beds were dirty
Location: Not too far from the centre and in a quiet Area close to parks
Had a good stay. Didn't spend too much time at the hotel. But we were glad to be there whenever we got back from anywhere. I thought the hotel was good value for money even though the breakfast was not included and the tv didn't work.

Good hotel if you are sightseeing in Amsterdam

Cons: Noise outside - but not the hotels fault
Location: Near to local market and tram stops.
We had a good stay at this hotel, very convenient to the city and near a tram line. Staff were very friendly and helpful with good english. Room basic but adequate with comfortable beds and a hot shower. Not a modern hotel, but I think the price reflects this.
