Great Hotel - Close to Central AmsterdamPosted Apr 17, 2015
Pros: The hotel staff are amazingly friendly and helpful - over and above what you would expect in a hotel of this category.
Cons: Nothing that we experienced could be improved upon.
Location: Central Amsterdam is very close by - a short tram ride away. All attractions easily visited. Great restaurants very close to the hotel.
Great stay at the Hotel Okura - we were welcomed with a lovely surprise of upgrades to two Junior Suites. The staff were attentive and courteous without being overpowering. Despite two International football teams staying in the hotel whilst we were there - apart from a few fans outside there was no interruption to our stay. Concierge were wonderful in recommending fabulous eateries nearby so we ate Indonesian, Argentinian and Turkish (twice it was so good !). Tickets for the van Gough exhibition and the international football match were obtained with ease. A great experience and we cant wait to return.

Tulips from AmsterdamPosted Apr 13, 2015

It was extraordinary that the first time I used Expedia it all went so well. The choice of the Okura Hotel was a lucky one. It is in a quiet, residential area and yet very close by tram to any where important that you would want to do. Sightseeing one way and conference facilities the other way. It is very picturesque and right on the canal! just a few minutes walk away is a glorious little 'square'/'plein' that is full of lovely restaurants, coffee shops, bars and tearooms. The Okura was very comfortable and pleasing, the staff extremely helpful and friendly and always willing to please. I felt relaxed, comfortable and as if living in luxury! One area of concern would be that the room was not serviced when we were out and about, instead several times we were disturbed by knocks on the door asking if we needed the room cleaned. This I expect to be done when we are out, as we were out all through the day time. Also the pool and fitness area has a charge, even if you are a hotel paying guest. That could be improved by being a facility as a free option to paying guests. Where I do understand there is a private Spa on the hotel premises at extra costs, but so fully booked we couldn't get a booking. All in all we had a fantastic stay and a memorable vacation.

Lovely hotelPosted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: The staff are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely. The canal outside is an attractive feature. Free WiFi in the rooms that works.
Cons: Nothing springs to mind except the beer in the bar is VERY expensive. If you like a drink maybe consider getting something from the supermarket.
Location: The location is not all that great. Nearby are flats and nondescript shops, but it doesn't matter because the number 12 tram stops outside.
The hotel is super comfortable, clean and spacious. The staff can't do enough to help. The very slightly out of town location doesn't matter. You can use the trams to get into the old parts of town very quickly. I went to Amsterdam primarily to see the Concertgebouw Orchestra and they are just 5-10 minutes away by tram. Get a tram/metro pass for easy getting around. For out of town and other experiences, look at Lindbergh's tours. They are reasonable and make travel to attractions such as Keukenhof easy and convenient. If it is your first visit, take a canal trip.

Great hotel - went as a family so didn't check out the really fancy restaurants, but very impressed by the rooms, great views of Amsterdam, pool, breakfasts and staff. Kids (9 & 12) had proper beds rather than sofa beds, which made a big difference to them.

日本のオークラを期待してはダメですPosted Apr 8, 2015

A little bit uncleanPosted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: Staff were very helpful
Cons: Just look at soft furnishings when the maids clean the rooms.
Location: This hotel was quite far from the main attractions you needed to take 3 diffrent tram rides of a taxi.this is an extra expense and time.
The hotel was quite far out for the main attractions.the room was cleaned but the cousins on the bed were unclean. They did change them for me but on the last day I noticed the chair cousin was also unclean.they had dirt and bad water marks on them.i mentioned this on our day of departure as had so many little niggles I felt like I was being fussy.

Great location, nice hotelPosted Apr 7, 2015
Everything is clean, the room was comfortable. We had free WiFi. The usual. The staff were very helpful, professional and courteous. It is everything you expect from a 4 star hotel. The only downside for me was the price of the restaurants. There are four, all of them expensive. Although one holds a Michelin star and I've been told by a local restaurant owner that the sushi restaurant is thw best in the city. When I go next I'll definitely stop by, this was a quick weekend break so I didn't have all the money in the world to spend.

Un vero 5 stellePosted Apr 6, 2015
Hotel superbo. Servizi all'altezza di un vero 5 stelle. Camera spaziosa e molto luminosa. Silenziosissimo.
