a good, mid-price optionPosted Jul 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Stayed there for 3 nights with wife and son. The hotel is near the zoo, botanical gardens, and hermitage. Located just outside the main rings of canals, and one block from the tram that can take you downtown. Our second floor room had some road noise at night, but it didn't keep us up. The room was clean and well-maintained. Breakfast buffet was fine. The family running the hotel is very friendly. When we had to leave at 6am for the flight home, they offered to leave some breakfast items out for us, even though breakfast doesn't usually start until 8am.

Great location walking distance to city centerPosted Jul 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
I really enjoyed my 4 night stay at Hotel Parklane. I was travelling on my own in Amsterdam and stayed in the single room; I recommend requesting the room facing the street as you get a lot of great sunshine in the afternoon and it overlooks a small park. The staff were friendly and spoke English fluently. The room and bathroom were clean and tidied up nicely everyday. The room and bathroom were on the small end, but perfectly fine for resting in the evening (TV had english channels). My only recommendation is to have extra sheets in addition to the comforter. Also be prepared to climb stairs. Overall, a great place to stay - easy walk to city center or tram/bus stop, good continental breakfast, decent speed WiFi, and a safe quiet, comfortable room to recharge at night.

Find somewhere else...Posted May 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
I don't get the rave reviews others have put on here about this Hotel. Expensive, not at all as conveniently located as it claims to be and generally a rubbish experience. Not at all flexible once booked, so be very careful which dates you select, as they won't refund, not even one day. The room was very small, with paper thin walls so could hear quite clearly activities of neighbouring rooms! Bathroom a problem too - set off the fire alarm taking a shower! Apparently, the window must be open in the room otherwise this happens, according to the hotel statf member who came banging on my door! Never mind that it is freezing outside...Ridiculous! Hotel has very steep stairs as well- if you have lots of luggage this will be a problem. During my stay, the tram directly in front of the hotel was shut down as well. Left a day earlier as I was fed up. Didn't even bother trying for a refund! Don't do it, stay somewhere nicer!

All round very nice place to stayPosted Feb 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is perfectly located and I was visiting family who live on the number 9 tram lane, so it was very convenient. The hotel was comfortable, quiet (apart from one early morning drill) and the service was great. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others visiting Amsterdam.

Decent but very basicPosted Oct 18, 2011
It's a very basic hotel within a walking distance of the centre (20 min). The upsides are a small garden nearby and a pub where you can get a good meal.
