“Great Base for Amsterdam Tourist”

This was a great hotel to walk and tram ride all over Amsterdam in 2 full days! We used the P+R (Park and Ride) at Zeeburg, came in to Central Station by fast tram, and walked with our (wheeled) luggage to the hotel - easy. Hotel staff were very friendly - all with excellent English - and provided useful directions and weather reports. The room was on the quieter side of the hotel, and was a good size and clean. Note - Despite the name you turn RIGHT from the station, not LEFT toward the Sint Nicholas (big domed) Church! Trams to various parts of the city, including the Reijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Dam Square, and Concertgebouw pass in front of the hotel. Continental Breakfast downstairs was excellent and substantial.

“great hotel, great location”

the hotel location is great and the quaitness of it was perfect...breakfast was great that they offered, which was included, which is always hard to find in Europe....they just redid it, so all the rooms has a great decor...not sure if they re did all the bath rooms, but wish they had redone them, you could tell they were a little dated compared to what they did with the rest of the place...but excellent hotel

“Great place to stay”

This hotel is 3 blocks from the train station. It is very close to shopping, restaurants and coffee houses. It is a longer walk to the museums, Heinekin brewery and red light area but we were able to see it all. The hotel is very cozy with fireplace in lobby. The room was small but clean, very modern bathroom with an awesome shower with jets! The only downfall was smelly plumbing but to be expected in an old city.

“I will use it again”

I had a great stay. The hotel is so close to centraal station that you can see it from the train station. The wi-fi is very easy to use and great for doing work. And the prices are good when you book in advance.

“An average hotel!”

The reception area/bar was very satisfactory, and the staff were helpful, and, of course, spoke very good English. The breakfast area was rather cramped. The room was reasonable, but on the small size, not large enough to accommodate all the furniture comfortably. I reported that there was no plug in the washbasin when I arrived, but nothing was done about it. One guide book referred to the fact that all the rooms in the hotel had baths, but mine only had a shower. The location was convenient for the station and for the efficient tram system. Reasonably good value for money; I discovered that Amsterdam is not a cheap city to visit.

“not impressed”

We were there in feb of 2008. First the bad. The hotel floor that we were on was under refurbishment so there was alot of hammering and noise in the morning. The pictures on the internet of the rooms were not what we got. The quality of the workmanship in the room was poor. The bathroom is in bad shape and needs updating. Now the good. The breakfast was alot better than expected. The staff was friendly and had good attitude. Most importantly the location was excellent!

“Not impressed”

We had to stay in this hotel for one night. We checked in at 7:00pm. We were given the room on the first floor next to the elevator. This hotel is also located right by the tram lines...The room shook everytime the tram went by. At one point in time in the middle of the night, I jumped up waking out of my half sleep thinking the tram was actually in the room.It was impossible to sleep because of the tram/car/bus and pedestrian noise right by our window. There was some sort of construction going on in the hotel. At 9pm there were still people moving stuff around in the lobby area. Then they played loud music in the lobby of the hotel for about 30 minutes which also served as a bar. We were actually going to take pictures of the room but we could not wait to check out as soon as possible in the morning and skipped the picture opportunity. The only hotel staff we interacted with were the check in and the check out people at the lobby/bar area and they were courteous. But the location of the room, the situation of the room( there were stains on our bed sheets, part of the hardwood floor floated), and the constant noise inside and outside the hotel made the short visit rather unpleasant.

“An uncomfortable night”

We had to stay in this hotel for one night as a "bridge" hotel since we could not find a room in our regular hotel for that particular night. We checked in at 7:00pm and were told that we got a good deal with expedia instead of the usual rate. Good job Expedia if you can believe the hotel people were actually telling the truth.
