Loved it!Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Loved the garden and the decoration of the hotel. Beds are super comfortable!
Cons: The in room minibar was rather expensive. I think it was 3.50 euros for a can of soda.
Location: Great location near trams to take you to any part of the city.
We loved staying at the Hotel Vondel on a quiet street near the Leidesplein in Amsterdam.

Perfect location to see the all of the sightsPosted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Great location, lovely decor and comfortable room. Free WiFi!
Cons: Our room was located on the floor below reception and restaurant, meaning that at times people walking and moving chairs could be heard.
Location: Brilliant location - walking distance to all major museums and sights, such as Vondel Park and Anne Frank House. Close proximity to trams.
Lovely hotel, very welcoming and comfortable. Situated in walking distance to Vondel Park, Museum Quarter, Anne Frank House and Rembrandt House. Close by to many shops and restaurants, with easy access to trams if required. Only disappointment was that our room was on the floor below reception and restaurant meaning people walking and moving chairs etc. could be heard late into the evening. This did not spoil our holiday, but is something to be aware of.

Great location for art loversPosted Jun 30, 2014
Just 5-10 mins walk from the Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum, so it's easy to get there early in the day to beat the queues. Also very near Leidesplein which has lots of bars etc, and close to a selection of canal boat tours. On a pretty side street, but quite noisy with traffic, delivery vans etc in the mornings. Our room was the smallest size, Queen, and was ok for 4 nights but I think we'd have wanted more space if staying longer. Wonderful rainfall shower, and the decor was fresh and stylish. Staff are all friendly and helpful.

Wonderfully comfortable, with a lot of characterPosted Jun 20, 2014
Pros: Its charm, wonderful decor and great position
Cons: Our room, directly under Reception, was a little noisy but that wouldn't apply to most rooms.
Location: Very close to the fabulous Vondel Park, gorgeous to walk through, 5 minutes walk to the Rijskmuseum and the Van Gogh, lots of wonderful restaurants.
A gorgeous hotel, with a great bar area in a delightful suburb so close to great cafes and all the galleries.

Excellent locationPosted May 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
Great location for easy access to central Amsterdam, without the noise and bustle. Superb if visiting museums. Rooms clean and OK. We had cellar room which was good size but some street noise (people walking by etc). I'd recommend double glazing to improve.

Gem of a hotel close to main Amsterdam attractionsPosted May 18, 2014
Pros: Location, ambiance and cleanliness
Cons: The hotel has wood floors and early in the morning some staff members walk with high heels and the noise is felt inside the rooms.
Location: Near Leidse plain, museum plain, near excellent dutch restaurant like the Pantry. Tram is easily accessible.
I was surprised to see how quaint and beautiful the hotel was. Each room is unique in design.

Excellent staff at the Hotel De Hallen.Posted May 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
The above scores are for the De Hallen Hotel. Booked this hotel (The Vondel) for it's location but on arrival were 'upgraded' to the sister hotel, the DE Hallen, which we were told was just 5 mins away. In reality it was a good 15 mins walk from the Hotel Vondel which itself was right next to the major museums - the prime reasons for our visit and choice of hotel. Despite our initial misgivings, the hotel DE Hallen was only 2 weeks old and impeccably designed and clean. Some aspects of the room were unfinished and it was obvious that they were in the process of snagging final touches. The staff though were excellent in the De Hallen and they couldn't do enough for us. In retrospect the De Hallen which is in a residential suburb which was in the process of being redeveloped. However, the Jordaan area close by was very pleasant though we did need to walk some considerable distance to get to the main attractions or in fact because it was very wet for our stay, get a taxi or tram.

Wonderful location, large clean roomsPosted Apr 24, 2014
Pros: Staff and location. Avoid rooms on level (-)1. You hear all the people in the lobby who are checking in.
Cons: Avoid lower level.
Location: Plain and simple--Amsterdam is there for your walking pleasure. Centrally located and 2blocks away from the Van Gough Museum and the Rijks museum.
Service at hotel Vondel was very good. Staff pleasant and helpful. Fantastic location. I plan to return.
