“Quiet and Comfortable”
The Zwanenburg is about a 15-minute drive from the airport, using the shuttle service provided by the hotel. We needed to stay overnight from one incoming flight with a 13-hour layover for a morning flight back to the States the next day. They were able to provide an early (5:30) shuttle service back to the airport. Both driver and evening and morning staff at the desk were helpful and friendly. Pick up at the airport and return were both on time. The beds were extremely comfortable and shower/bathroom facilities were clean with everything working properly. It was very quiet all night. We felt the hotel was very reasonably priced. One thing to think about: we didn't notice an elevator (there could have been one..we didn't ask) and were on the 2nd floor. If you've got heavy bags, this could be an issue if there's not a lift.
“room looks like a garage. Restaurant too slow.”
Uncoonfortable. I expected not much for the price, and I needed a hotel with parking (what is difficult in Amsterdam), but at least the regular for a 3* hotel. My room was outside hotel hall. I had to exit the hotel door, walk 10 meters to enter my room. If rain, you will get wet. There are no restaurant nearbby open at 8pm, so I tried hotel restaurant, wich took more than one hour to have a grilled meat with french fries. The hostess excused because it was full (two tables with 2 customer and one large table with 12 or so), but did noot seem full for a restaurant... The bread and butter was served 45 minutes after I order. Expedia should pay more atttention to the hotels in their site, specially in Europe. I never had this kind of problem in USA.
“Stay away... scarry”
Hi, this hotel is not matching any known US standards. Some shady place in the middle of nowhere, with dark hallways, sleepy guy at front desk. Room was something like a trailer, humid and cold, I did not even try to take a shower there. Not sure who took these pictures, but you will be sorry you picked that sleazy joint. Could not wait till the morning to get the heck out of there. Pay a bit more and feel safe and comfortable.
“sour reception from staff”
When I researved this hotel I made a point to have them check with the hotel for a 4:30 early shuddle to the airport, which was confirmed. This was impossible, we were informed upon arrival, by the sour lady receptionist. We were forced to keep our car for an extra day. In 31/2 weeks of travel in Europe this was the only hotel we researved and the only hotel to basically give us the cold shoulder. A very poor choice! Mike
“Nice convenient good value.”
I recently stayed at the Zwanenburg during a business trip. This is not a luxury hotel but it is clean and comfortable and represents a good value for most travelers. Staff is professional and friendly. It is an easy bus ride from downtown Amsterdam. I would certainly recommend this hotel.
“Airport Stop-over hotel”
We used this hotel for one night on the way back from Europe to the US. Although the hotel was 15 to 20 minutes from the Amsterdam airport, the free shuttle van made that a non-issue. In fact, it was fun to stay in a "real" town that wasn't in the middle of the airport. Check out the cheese store in town! The hotel was a basic, European-style hotel (small rooms, no air conditioning), but it did have a fan and plenty of outlets. There is a restaurant inside the hotel, but we ate in town, which was a better deal. The staff was not very friendly, but they were efficient and this hotel was a very good value. Note: The free shuttle to the airport is only available for your initial trip to the hotel and final trip from the hotel. They say you can't use it to transfer to Amsterdam. However, there may be a bus to go from this town to Amsterdam, but I'm not sure since we only stayed one night.
“Hotel Zwanenburg-- great find!”
Nice small hotel. Very clean. Has breakfast room, restaurant and lounge. Free Wi-fi, but you have to pay to use their computers. Friendly staff. Free airport shuttle. Drawbacks-- fairly close to airport (15 mins by car) but quite a distance from the city center. No elevator, but hotel is small. Staff carried my large bag to my room. Would definitely stay there again. Is located in a nice area within walking distance to shops/restaurants.
“Good place to spend the night”
The hotel was off to a rough start when it took the shuttle 45 minutes to pick me up at the airport instead of the 20 minutes they had said it would take. That's a pity because other than that, the hotel is fine - nothing fancy, just an affordable, clean room in a quiet neighborhood.
“Just for a pit stop”
We stayed in this hotel because we had an early flight out of Schipol the next morning. We got there late at night and left early in the morning. I would have not chosen it for more than a short night. Too far from Amsterdam city center but about 15 minutes from the international airport, and they had a free shuttle. If these are not your priorities (close to airport, just for a quick stop), skip this hotel and find something better. The decor was extremely outdated, and the sink kep leaking.
“Lovely hotel in a very cute suburb of Amsterdam.”
The hotel and surrounding community are absolutely lovely and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The only negative about this hotel is its location far from the center of Amsterdam. It is not a far ride by bus or bicycle and it is nice to get away from the hussle of the city, but it is definitely not within walking distance from any of the museums, the Red Light District, or Dam Square area. Loved Hotel Zwanenburg either way!
