Nice hotel close to the RAI

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: Nice restaurant linked to the hotel
Cons: They could have made us aware there are parking fees to pay if you park in the street, as they do not have a car park
Location: It was a business trip not holiday
It was perfectly acceptable but could be keener to please their customers

Nice hotel, but a bit noisy, very comfortable

Posted Nov 1, 2014
We spent four days here. Getting there from the centre was very easy, the trams were very frequent and good value. Crossing the roads in Amsterdam is very challenging. I'd rather drive in Paris or Rome than in Amsterdam!

Poor hotel. avoid

Posted Oct 10, 2014
Pros: Location, but lots of others nearby to choose from
Cons: Needs a complete refit/refurbishment and a new manager/receptionist. Very rude.
Location: lots do to so dont spend time in the hotel.
Inflexible and not customer focused. Very aggressive manager/receptionist. Old and smelly carpet throughout the first floor.

Near Museums

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Location: This is about a 10 min walk to Museum Square but the neighborhood immediately surrounding the hotel is sleepy and mostly residential.
This is a decent hotel. It says it's a 4 star but I would say more like a 3. I reserved the room as a package with flight. I think these packages are given the less appealing rooms. I was on the top floor. If you look at the picture of the hotel, my room was one with the window sticking out of the roofline. So the ceiling was low and the room was tight. The carpeting was stained and the room was not the nicest or most up to date. This is a decent tourist hotel but not a luxury place. Don't be fooled by the 4 star. It's not.

Decent place in a very convenient location.

Posted Sep 26, 2014
Pros: The nice staff, the decor, the easy transport links and a comfortable, cosy room.
Cons: Maybe a few cold drinks in the minibar in the room- it would be fair enough to charge a fee. Some more fruit besides peaches at breakfast.
Location: A quiet and safe location. It is on a main road, so theres a bit of noise, but I didnt find it a problem when sleeping.
The staff were very efficient and professional. This is a very clean hotel, breakfast was very decent and the facilities were good.

A very friendly hotel.

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Very friendly staff and a reasonable breakfast.
Cons: Internet connection and a cooler air con.
Location: It's close to the big museums and situated in a good area .
Memphis Hotel A very friendly hotel that I booked because it was one of few that included bed and breakfast (the breakfast by the way is very good) and close - ish to the centre of Amsterdam / museum land. If you don't like walking maybe a more central hotel is better for you. We love to walk and soak in the atmosphere so this location which we had pre- checked on Google maps was perfect for us. It only cost £540 thru Expedia for 7 nights b&b flights from UK in Aug so I wasn't expecting the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It is a basic 4* city hotel, that is clean, well located for museums and has very, very friendly staff. The area it is located in is semi- posh and friendly area, set on a main artery St therefor good for buses and trams. If you are sensitive to traffic noise this may be a problem if your room is facing a street. The only issues that may affect some people are slow internet ( sometimes minutes to load - could be cos we had top floor room in the hotel. Also, air con struggled to keep the room cool ( it was in 20 degrees outside and I do like my room cooler than that at night - I'm hopeless!!) Sorry about that bit of neg everything else was absolutely fabulous.

Peaceful

Very enjoyable. We got this place at a very good rate. Although it is in the suburbs it is just a quick and easy tram journey from the city centre. There are two tram stops within a minute's walk.

Not a four star hotel !!

Posted Aug 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
This is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Just the basic conforts only. Staff not very helpful. Had to beg for a soap or a shampoo in the shower many times. Got it replaced after 48 hours. Breakfast is poor. Overripe babanas with patches all over. Location is great. Only 15 minutes to the central by tram ( euro 2.70 one way) I wouldnt stay again or recommend my friends.

Very lovely stay

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: The valur for money and location
Cons: Nothing
Location: Shops, restaurants, trams, museums.
The hotel was really easy to get to and in a lovely area of the city. If you don'y want the hassle of eating in the centre there are a few really nice places withing walking distance - and a great "brown bar". The hotel staff were very helpful and breakfast very good value. We've stayed in the centre of Amsterdam before but would quite happily trade those locations for this one.
