Very lovely stayPosted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: The valur for money and location
Location: Shops, restaurants, trams, museums.
The hotel was really easy to get to and in a lovely area of the city. If you don'y want the hassle of eating in the centre there are a few really nice places withing walking distance - and a great "brown bar". The hotel staff were very helpful and breakfast very good value. We've stayed in the centre of Amsterdam before but would quite happily trade those locations for this one.

Great Location for museums and upmarket boutiquesPosted Aug 16, 2014
Pros: Great Location Air Conditioning Range of TV channels in 5 different languages
Cons: The bathrooms could have better extraction and the bathroom sink seemed to take an age to drain - which left toothpaste residue in the basin.
Location: Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Concertegbouw, Vondels Park, Leidseplein. The Anne Frank, Foam & the Dutch Resistance Museum further afield.
Located only 50 metres from a number 16 tram stop (Emmastraat) , this hotel is easily accessed from Amsterdam Centraal and beyond. The rooms are on the snug side, but have air conditioning, king-size beds and the en suites are equipped with fantastic power showers. There is also a free multilingual TV service and a digital safe in each room. This is a great hotel for those wanting to explore the Museum Quarter (Museumplein) & Vondels Park, the Leidseplein and the famous Canal Ring (Herengracht, Prinsengracht & Keisersgracht), all of which are within walking distance. For shoppers, the boutiques on Jacob Obrechtstraat & Cornelius Schuystraat offer a wealth of options, many designer labels and personal tailoring. The hotel serves a hearty self-service breakfast, which can be pre-purchased with your booking (be warned, breakfast is expensive if it is not pre-ordered.) Breakfast includes hot eggs, bacon, beans and sausages, in addition to cereals, fruit, yoghurts, toast, croissants, cold meats and cheeses. The hotel will also offer to store your baggage on the day you leave and can arrange tickets for bus excursions around the city, in addition to GVB day tickets for the tram. Hotel staff are efficient and professional. Travellers from the UK might expect a slightly "warmer" form of customer service. Though the service can occasionally appear brusque, this is not personal and is merely a cultural difference.

Lovely hotel in a great areaPosted Aug 16, 2014
The hotel was out of the centre which was perfect for us, away from the crowds, in a really pretty and quiet area with good links to the centre and canal rings and tourist attractions. The staff were helpful and polite. The only negative was the wine purchased from the bar one night which wasn't very nice and the staff member serving us was a little rude. Other than that the front desk and restaurant staff were great. Breakfast was excellent, everything you could want! The room itself was a good size for a 4 night stay, clean and tidy. The only problem was some of the plug sockets didn't work, but we survived! There were a lot of lamps in the room... 4 in fact which was a bit excessive but not a problem! The beds were very very comfortable. All in all it was a good stay, we'd come back and we'd definitely recommend it to anyone!

thoroughly recommended.Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Everything from the staff to the location of the hotel.
Cons: Nothing could be improved.
Location: Short tram ride into the city. Local restuarants .
The hotel staff made us very welcome throughout our stay. If we had any problems then they sorted them out very quickly. Would certainly return to the Memphis as it is situated conveniently with a short tram ride into the city. The location of the hotel gives you a very restful place to stay and peaceful nights.

Nice hotel close to park and museum.Posted Aug 3, 2014
Cons: The hotel decor is a little tired and if you don't like the lift the stairs are hard to find and came out behind the bar!
Good location if you want to be away from the center. We walked everywhere so didn't mind the 15 min walk. Easy access on bus 197 from the airport to the hotel.

Pros: Friendliness of the staff.
Cons: More places to put personal belongings in bathroom . A shelf on the wall would have been useful.
Location: Short walk to the museums . Bus or tram easily reached to go into centre.
Nice hotel centrally located. The room was very clean although quite small. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Quiet hotel near vondel parkPosted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Location, room

Terrible customer service from the receptionistPosted Jul 5, 2014
Cons: Educate how to do customer service
The stay in the hotel was great until the final date we discovered that the breakfast wasn't included in the price unlike we were told it was. This was purely miscommunication, which we compromised despite the fact if the breakfast wasn't include we wouldn't have touched the breakfast. (Breakfast wasn't very nice and not the standard for the price they changed. ) During this discussion, the female receptionist started shouted at me in front of other customers as we weren't happy to pay for the low standard breakfast. She gave me a lecture how to speak to her, she refused me to speak to her manager, she even ignored whatever we were saying to her. She herself doesn't have any customer service skills and a very angry person we had no idea why she was doing her job if she hates to speak to customers.... Nasty experience which ruined everything about the stay in the hotel. And we were charged €100 more for breakfast!!!!!! If we knew breakfast wasn't included clearly from the start, we could enjoy better breakfast in a lovely barkery with decent customer service without being lectured....

Not good...Posted Jun 28, 2014
Room wasn't comfortable, seemed some sort of renovation going on. The guest elevator was out if order for 2 days and had to use service elevator. Rooms are noisy as can hear noise from other rooms and bed wasn't comfortable. Not a 4 star, won't be returning and could not recommend.
