Short stay in Amsterdam

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: It is central to the city and all the shopping areas and close enough to walk to the train station or to the busier museum areas.
Cons: We were in the Amsterdam wing, an annexe really, which was in need of a makeover as the room was very "tired" and not what was expected for 5 stars.
Location: Hotel situation is good, on Dam Square, close to major shops and attractions with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
We were only staying two nights as this was a short trip to meet some friends. The hotel itself is fine, but very expensive breakfast at Eur29.95,

Very good ... But

Posted Oct 1, 2014
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Air conditioning!!
Location: Location was great for all the sights
Staff were the best room was good ...but no air conditioning we asked for it to be fixed but had to make do with an open window and the noise!!! Apart from that a great hotel well placed and would recommend as THE place to stay

Handy for all areas

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, superb breakfast. We had a room at the back therefore no outside noise
Cons: They should supply recycling bins in the rooms i.e 1 for general waste & 1 for bottles, cans&paper. 2 save power the door key could power the room 2.
Location: Wonderful Central location handy for many sights, shops etc and a 10 minute simple walk from the station.
Room very modern & tasteful. Checkout appears to be a bit chaotic due to the size of the hotel

NH Amsterdam Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky

Shower not working properly, lamps in room not functional, no electricity - one of the mornings. Wasn't expecting this. This hotel needs serious refurbishing!!

Not so grand

Posted Sep 22, 2014
Pros: Location, renovated room,.
First room we were put in in the Amsterdam wing was outdated noisy, and smelled like smoke. Staff moved us to an updated room when we asked. Found that the value for money was disappointing. Location is close to everything but the area is a bit rowdy at night, not very romantic if that's what you are looking for.

Will never recommend

Posted Sep 21, 2014
This hotel is a 5 star, I am sorry it doesn't feel like it. Bed is good , bathroom is big but for e600 for 2 night it's a waste of money !!! The aircon was noisy all the time , told the staff but no one fixed it , we paid for the best room to enjoy a 5 star and we got a standard room with a view of nothing ( roof of other building) when the hotel is a damrak. How much do you need to pay for a good hotel room . Very disappointing and will never recommend . Also can't use the fridge because was noisy . Really bad hotel.

Excellent location.

Pros: Although large the staff were friendly. Well appointed and rooms were clean and comfortable.
Cons: My only quibble is the cost of a breakfast. Breakfasts are served in the winter gardens-a splendid Edwardian building. The food was good but it costs
Near to lots of the attractions, a good location near tot the station.

Check in delayed as rooms not ready.

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Not acceptable to have to wait till 5pm to check in. Seemed chaotic and not the restful experience you expect from 5 star. If you don't intend to use the pool, gym or business centre then go with a 3 star and spend the rest at one of Amsterdams fantastic steakhouses.

Ask for the old rooms.

Pros: The best location
Location: Easy walk one block to red-light district, four blocks to Gasson Diamond Factory, Rembrandt home, and everything you want.
We upgraded to a new modern room that has problems with the electric. The newly installed hair dryer did not work, when you turned off the light next to the bed it turned off the electric in the bathroom. The TV is complicated to run, even the bellman did not know how to operate.
