A great hotel in the centre of the city.Posted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: It's got all the facilities we want and it's in the centre of Amsterdam.
Cons: We think it might be getting a bit tired and a bit of sprucing up wouldn't go amiss.
We had a really good room on the top floor of the Royal Wing with a balcony overlooking Darmstrat and the roof tops. It couldn't have been better, apart from last year when we stayed on the top floor overlooking Dam Square.

My Home in AmsterdamPosted Feb 24, 2014
I've stayed here at least a half dozen times over the last three years, and I love it. The staff if very accommodating. The rooms are generous in size, by Amsterdam standards. And they always have fresh toiletries every day... so I no longer bring a razor or toothbrush.

Good central locationPosted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: Its central location, the opulence of its Wintergarden, the extensive breakfast buffet which is available until midday on Sundays
Cons: Difficult to suggest any improvements
Location: Plenty of restaurants/cafés in the vicinity with all sights and attractions within walking distance. Do not miss a visit to the Begijnhof
We were a party of three, in two rooms staying for two nights. Check-in was rather slow and on checking out we were charged for breakfasts for the first morning which we had taken elsewhere. The receptionist made amends by charging us less for the breakfasts we had taken in the hotel. Allow €4pp for the train from Schiphol to Centraal Station or €50 plus tip for a taxi.

standard of room/positionPosted Jan 23, 2014
Pros: the coffee
Cons: regrade the hotel so future customers know what to expect
Location: location was good very central
I was very disappointed with our room, it was my special 50th birthday and the room was very average with a view of the rooftops and fire escape. we were in the worst part of the hotel and we couldn't even get movies on our TV just 2 channels were English. I would rate this hotel as a 3* not a 5* and we have stayed in lots of hotels. I was also disappointed with the breakfast. 24 Euros each and it was very ordinary. My husband tried to arrange some roses for me but the communication just didn't work and resulted in no flowers. The hotel was very plain and the bar lacked atmosphere. I can say one thing, the coffee although expensive came with a chocolate and a macaroon - very nice. I would not stay in the hotel again as the standard really spoilt my holiday.

Excellent location, hotel with some issues??Posted Jan 18, 2014
Pros: Bellman who checked me in, door man, location, location, location!!
Cons: Reception staff, wifi, Houskeeping, TV program
Location: In the center of everything, near the central train station, shopping, really excellent location
The location can't be better, stayed in one of the renovated rooms but had mixed feelings regarding the bathroom glass walls and the design, I'd say it's a good 4+ star hotel but definitely not 5! Some of the staff are excellent, bellmen and the doorman Mohamed..TOP TOP TOP, but it was interesting to go the front desk with 4 ladies standing, no other guests, I stood for a couple of minutes in their face and NO ONE LOOKED AT ME!!! That was very negative. Check in was also funny as the front office staff didn't know if the room was a twin or king size bed and which wifi code was actually working? Room cleaning can be much better and they have this bathroom box that keeps falling off, and no one did anything for 4 days...the a/c will go up to 24c only even though there is more and the TV doesn't have sports, discovery wasn't working and they don't have one English movie channel. Couldn't understand why the Arabic channel was from Iraq? Wifi is very very slow. I live in Egypt, but we're much faster. Called the reception and they confirmed that it was intended for e-mails only!! Then you have to renew every day your codes. Quite a hassle for a "5" star hotel. If your expectations aren't very high, I would definitely recommend the hotel, it's an OK stay with a great location and doorman!

Close to everything.Posted Jan 16, 2014
Pros: It is big with space.
Cons: No one knows you are going in or out because it is too big. No greeting at all after check in.
Location: Because we are staying in the NEW building at the back, we feel good for most things are new. Close to tram and Mac Donald (s) is our preference.
Because we are staying in the NEW building at the back, we feel good for most things are new. Close to tram and Mac Donald (s) is our preference. Carry your luggage to the room, otherwise you may have to wait for ages because it is a huge hotel having many rooms checking in at the same time. We just couldn't wait any longer. I went down a long way to the lobby to get my luggage for a quick change and rest after a long trip. We are very happy with the hotel overall.

In the centre of everything you want to see..Posted Jan 14, 2014
I had no problems with the hotel it was very nice and every thing was clean, it was in a good place close to all the areas you want to visit. You can get money off some of the things you want to see so ask at the desk, if you want to pay a bit more get a room that looks out over dam square.. Very nice hotel would go to it again..
