Excellent hotel

Pros: Good location, friendly staff and comfortable
Cons: Some noise from traffic especially tram bells.
Location: Close to museums, canal cruises, Vondelpark and restaurants. About 20 minute taxi ride from Schipol airport.
This was our fourth return to this hotel and as ever found it excellent. Renovation work going on but this did not impact on our stay. Close to restaurants, canal cruises and museums. All round excellent hotel and very friendly staff.

Pros: The bed.
Cons: The smell from the drains.
Location: Canal boat trips, museums, shops, restaurants, markets, parks and of course the Red Light District - all within (varying) walking distance.
Good location next to Vondelpark and opposite one of the main canals. Canal boat trips are bookable from the kiosk just across the road. Good transport links generally - easy to get to using bus 197 from the airport (and returning using the same bus, which can be caught around the corner near the Rijksmuseum. The room was clean and comfortable, however the drains from the shower/toilet did smell and I would definitely recommend bringing an air freshener! T.V. wouldn't work one evening and couldn't be fixed until the next day. We had a note pushed under the door the following evening to say they hoped we were enjoying the new room they'd moved us to! (They hadn't, but the T.V was by now working). A bit odd, but I suppose that's the trouble with large hotels, there can be communication issues between 'departments'. The bed was amazingly comfortable - really soft and springy! If I went back to Amsterdam I would stay in a smaller hotel where you get a more personal service.

Perfect modern hotel in Amsterdam

I have recently returned from Amsterdam and would highly recommend staying in this hotel. It was my birthday and we were offered a complimentary drink in the hotel lounge area. The room was lovely and clean. The beds were very comfortable and I had a fabulous view over a canal. Before travelling I would recommend upgrading to a room with a view. Check the guest pictures on Trip Advisor as certain rooms are very small and the bathroom is not completely separate (hence why I upgraded which was definitely worth it). The staff were very friendly and accommodating. From the central train station it is quite far to walk so I would recommend a transfer or getting a tram from Dam, numbers 1, 2 and 5 run near by the hotel.

Park hotel, Amsterdam

The hotel is located in a lovely area near to the museum area, main shopping area and Leidersplein square. The hotel is not central as mentioned on the website. It is located in the South West of the city. If you are wanting to stay near Dam square it is a 30 minute walk or 10 minute tram ride. The bed was comfortable but the room was small. There is no separate bathroom, the toilet and shower are in the room behind glass walls. The hotel is modern and staff extremely helpful.

Great Location! Great Hotel!

Pros: Loved the location and the size of the hotel; it was not too big and felt very intimate.
Cons: Breakfast was very pricey so we stayed away from that; it would have been nice to get a more affordable eating option.
Location: The hotel is steps away from the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gough Museum, and is within walking distance to a lot of other places.
We stayed at the Park Hotel on our first trip to Amsterdam and could not have been more pleased at the excellent location of this hotel. After catching the Airport Express to the Rijksmuseum stop, it was only a 5 minute walk to the hotel. We were close to so many great museums and the staff was always very friendly and eager to answer questions. I would love to stay here again someday.

Nice hotel, but trying to do too many things

Pros: We liked the location of this hotel close to the canals, museum quarter and lots of restaurants.
Cons: If the hotel if going to hold different events in reception, it really needs to think about sound proofing rooms.
We arrived on the Thursday before the Amsterdam marathon to be advised that as part of the Amsterdam Music Festival there would be a band playing in the reception area until 11pm. I think it finished around 2am. The music carried up on the first floor, and my mother, who's room was located right at the top of the stairs couldn't sleep until the music had finished. Not a good start. Whilst the city is gorgeous, and city view rooms are available, if you prefer a little peace and quiet, I would suggest a room that doesn't look out onto the city. The hotel is located on a corner, and has trams travelling alongside the hotel and in front of it, from 5am in a morning through to very late at night. Being marathon runners this didn't suite us. The staff were incredibly helpful, allowing us a very late (5pm) checkout when our flight was cancelled due to the bad weather from Gonzalez at just 10 euro's an hour.

I've booked room with breakfast, and requested for Twin bed as mentioned on website we can choose between 1 king bed or twin bed. When arriving hotel, the staff informed that we can only have king bed, need to add $ for twin bed as well as breakfast. We didn't showed our booking confirmation first as when we informed that we are from Malaysia, immediately they said they knew our reservation. When we showed them our booking confirmation stated clearly our booking is for twin bed with breakfast, only then they didn't request more from us. Although we didn't pay more for what we've have book, but we have learnt a lesson: NEVER CHECK IN WITHOUT ANY BOOKING CONFIRMATION SLIP.
