“Excellent hotel, distant location”

I stayed her for 4 nights while visiting Amsterdam . This hotel is an excellent accommodation but is quite far from the city of Amsterdam. To get to the city, you must take the free hotel shuttle to the airport and then take the train to town. The airport shuttles run every 30 minutes and were very reliable. The hotel is the only place around it. There are no stores, restaurants, bars etc. You are forced to dine in the hotel restaurant if youre hungry or take the commute to the airport to eat or shop. The hotel breakfast is very pricey at 20 euro. The dinner portions are small and expensive as well. The are no refrigerators in the room to store your own drinks. The room itself was furnished nicely and was kept quite clean. Stay here if you don't mind budgeting for expensive meals and have a car to commute if necessary.

“Good option to consider”

Nothing is around the hotel, so it is quiet. The airport shuttle service is very timely every half hour. The service staff and the shuttle bus staff were very friendly and helpful.

“Great Value, Be Smart - Take Advantage of Location & Price”

We decided for this trip to Amsterdam to attempt to save a little money with the dollar being so low relative to the Euro. We chose the Park Plaza at "X" dollars per night versus "3X" dollars per night staying closer to the center of town. We could use the extra "2X" dollars a day on fun instead of a hotel room we will only sleep in. We found this hotel a short (.35 miles) walk from the end of the Tram line. We could walk in 20 minutes to the tram, take it to Dam Square, Central Station, or use the rest of the public transportation (i.e., canal boats, buses, other trams all day for $7 Euro each by buying a one-day transportation pass as we got on the tram in the morning. The hotel is clean, quiet, and has a efficient, friendly staff. Our room missed service one day, but otherwise everything went well. If you want to save some money and stay in a nice place, the Park Plaza is a smart choice. IF you want to pay for the location, be my guest.

Area recommendations

Dam Square in the evening at a sidewalk cafe, Any leafy side street in the rain with your special someone, Central Station - never unless you have to, a canal tour in a tour boat with a good narrator, Vondelpark on a sunny day, the Van Gogh museum.

When to go

Go in September or October for the least crowded conditions and nice-enough weather.

“Good deal and good location”

The hotel is awesome – appealing, contemporary design, clean rooms, good breakfast (at extra charge) and is reasonably priced. Just keep in mind that you are dependent on the shuttle to get to and from Schiphol airport (or Schiphol train station to take a train anywhere in Holland as well as to neighboring countries). The shuttle is free and runs twice per hour each direction – do not forget to reserve your seat if getting to Schiphol at a certain time is critical.

Area recommendations

In Amsterdam, Hop-on hop-off canal cruise is a perfect way to see the city and visit museums.

“Not impressed at all”

- Bizarrely hard to find entrance when coming with public transport, which is not close and not very accessible. - The room was very cold and increasing the temperature with the climate controls managed to increase only 0.6 degrees in 10 hours. Safe to say, it didn't work. - The choice of food in the brasserie was poor, for some reason you can't get a simple sandwich after after 6 PM. - The brasserie fails to note that there's a cover charge so you end up double-tipping. Makes me feel I was ripped off.

“Great Hotel if you don't want to be in Amsterdam Central and have a car.”

Hotel appears to be fairly new and modern and the rooms are very nice and quiet. It has the feel of an upscale US Hotel not a European Hotel. It is close to the Freeway and has a free shuttle from the Airport. (15 mins on the freeway). If you have a car then it is a good place to park it is in an office park type location. It does take awhile (up to an hour) to get to Amsterdam city Central if you don't have a car. You can take the shuttle back to airport to pick up train or bus to the city for 5 Euros. They say you can walk 15 mins and hop on a bus/trolley to the city but the hotel is in a large industrial area and is not obvious where you would go. A great place if you just spending the night for a flight the next day and you want a good night sleep in a nice and quiet room. Eat before you arrive. No restaurants close by.

“Modern and Clean”

Only stayed one night. Hotel is close to airport and it has a free shuttle. Front staff is friendly. Bartenders friendly and they seem to like their job. Room is comfortable. Views from window are of a boring office building park. Nice hip lounge places to hang out . T.V. channels are limited. Only 2 or 3 in English. Movies are pay to view and expensive. This hotel is for the convenience of the airport....Not for touring the city of Amsterdam. Good for business people.

“Amsterdam Stopover”

Convenient but transportation was not easy. Advertised 24 hour availability but it was finished by 9 or 9:30pm. First bus was at 6pm ... a rush for an 8am flight! Room was just OK ... good enough for a stopover.

“Good place to catch a plane from Amsterdam”

The hotel rooms are new. They are small, but very nice. My wife only had one negative on the poor lighting in the room. Other than that, a winner. If you need to take the van from the hotel to the airport be sure to get a ticket from the desk clerk. The driver would not allow on guy on the van due to lack of ticket. We would use this hotel again.
