“Great Location”

The Radisson Blu was very conveniently located, and we were able to walk to all the important sites. However, the restaurant on site was expensive, so we wound up eating out most days. Despite that, we would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Area recommendations
I loved all the canals which gave the city additional beauty and character. We loved the Anne Frank house, and visited the Van Gogh and other museums. We also enjoyed taking the hour long canal cruise. There were lots of things to do, and we would have liked to spend more time exploring the city.
Getting around
I'd recommend walking as the best way to get around. Amsterdam is a beautiful city, and you see so much more on foot.
Must see
There is so much to see, but a few highlights are the Anne Frank house, the Van Gogh museum, the Canal boat rides, the Red Light district, the Churches, etc.

“Greatest Staff”

We had some issues with our credit card company and our car rental company, both which were immediately taken care of by the wonderful staff at the Raddison. . Room was clean and comfortable, and even though we arrived a day early, we were accomadated at a very busy time of the year. Can not say enough about the willingness of the staff at this holtel to make your stay a great one, and we stayed in six hotels on this trip. This one took our top honors.

Area recommendations
The Raddison is in walking distance to Central Station, and the canal bus, which we love and takes you to the museum district and all the outter attractions of Amsterdam. Close to the city excitement, but just a few blockes away so you can get some rest in this "busy all night" city.

“Convenient Quiet Comfort”

My criteria for a great hotel experience is "quiet comfort" in a great location. The Radisson Blu Amsterdam on Rusland was a perfect fit. Compared to many of the four and five star rated hotels in Amsterdam, what sets the Blu apart is the quiet street, the incredibly quiet rooms (I never heard a sound for adjoining rooms other than the outside door being opened or closed), and that it was within walking distance to all points of interest including a 10 minute walk to Centraal Station. Clean, roomy, (loved the heated floor in the bathroom); not sumptuous, but roomy enough to be comfortable. Staff are friendly, helpful. If you want to be in the middle of pubs and nightlife, this isn't your stop. But if you want quiet when your nightlife is over; Radisson Blu. Also, for the second time when booking with Expedia I have purchased vouchers for transportation from and to the airport/hotel; this works wonderfully and at a fair price. Better than taking a taxi!

“Excellent but pricey hotel closer to the museums, good restaurants and shopping.”

Excellent but pricey hotel closer to the museums, good restaurants and shopping. The hotel restaurant is excellent but, again, pricey. The hotel is in tip-top shape, excellent staff, quiet, and within easy walking distance of museums, shopping, good restaurants, and an outstanding chocolate shop, Puccini. The cab from the central train station was 10 Euros. Overall, we were thought we got what we paid for.

Dining
I like to sample authentic local dishes when I visit a country. We had several good Dutch meals at the Haesje Claes restaurant which is about a 1/2 mile walk from the Radisson Blu. Check with the concierge.
Family-friendly activities
By all means, take a day tour out into the countryside to visit the fields, canals, windmills and extremely well-maintained houses and buildings.

“Overpriced. There's better for less.”

We picked this hotel because of the Radisson name. The Blu hotels are supposed to be nicer than the regular chain. While the location was great, the value for the dollar was not. We had to change rooms as the first one we got was for a single person. A queen size bed ina small room. Friends of ours stayed a few blocks away at the NH Grand Krasnapolsky. A much better room. lobby, value, etc.

Area recommendations
Center City, near everything. Easy walsk to all sightseeing locations.
