“great place, great location and at a great price!”
The Rembrandt Classic Hotel was only a few blocks walk from most of the places we went to see (ie: Anne Frank House). If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk pretty much everywhere from there, even to/from Central Station! The hotel was well-kept, but that could be because of the overly concerned housekeeping. They passed by every 15 minutes or so to ask if we were ready. It would be good to have "Do Not Disturb" signs to prevent this disturbance. The walls were pretty thin, since I could hear when people closed doors and what seemed like average-volumed conversations were heard pretty well (I'd only call it eves-dropping if I understood what was being said). Wi-Fi is NOT included. We would have to pay euros per minute/hour, etc. It would have helped us enjoy our stay more if we were able to surf the web for stuff. The fact that each minute was being charged steered us from going there. Aside from these very few minor flaws, I'd come back here again. The service was very courteous and hospitable. They spoke English very well and clearly communicated items charged etc. Being located right along a canal makes it a comfy cozy place to come back to after a cold day out at The Dam.
“November in Amsterdam was good”
practical, efficient, clean, cost effective, good value for business travel, get a canal view on 3rd or 4th floor, tv has only ten channels, mostly news channels for bus traveler.
“Worst of 4 hotels we stayed in Amsterdam”
I made reservations over the internet for a weeks stay. Our business in the Ukraine finished early so we had to get reservations for more nights and just arranged them when we got to Amsterdam. We used 3 other hotels and rooms were small but very new and well kept; more convenient than the Rem brandt also. The buttons for the elevator were all visably filthy. I am very careful while traveling but I got a terrible chest cold after we arrived there. Carpets were filthy and walls were dirty. There were things that could be easily taken care of if anyone cared. They didn't. I complained about all of it when I realized that our last night (a Thursday) was going to be raised to over twice the cost of the previous night. I mentioned that I was going to report all these things and they washed the dirt off the wall you face when you speak to them at the receptions desk and left a bottle of wine in our room. I returned the wine as I would reather help others not get studk there. The contrast between that hotel and the 3 others, two newer and one the same age was unbelievable. Do not ruin your time in wonderful Amsterdam by staying at this poorly managed hotel. It is obvious that staff is oblivious to how dirty the hotel is. I watched the staff clean the bathroom by wiping the water from the sink and tub. Nothing was done to the toilet. New towels were hung and that was it. Wonder if it was cleaned before we arrived the first day. I think you have the picture.
“Good for the money,great location.”
On vacation for a week.Hotel staff friendly ,located near Anne Frank House and 5 minute walk to Dam center.Lots of places to eat nearby.
“Nice place to stay for a couple of nights”
This hotel is above average for your typical European hotel. The only downside is that we visited on an extremely hot day and the rooms had no air conditioning. We did however request a fan and did get one for the night. We had issues with a leak in the bathroom, but it wouldn't keep us from using it again. Breakfast was not that great (by the time we came down there wasn't much left and we weren't that late) and we ended up eating at a cafe instead.
“really needs a face lift inside and out.”
old paint old walls , crackes in doors to bathrooms, crumbs on floor, old furnishings. wood props for windows. ant on breakfast plate. Do i need to say more! way to expensive for the qyaulity!
“Nice place to stay in good location”
This hotel in a great location if you are looking for the nightlife. The room itself was spacious but, as usual, the bathroom was very small. One word of caution...this hotel does not have A/C in the rooms so make sure you check the weather before booking.
“Not a very good value for money”
To be fair, we came May 1, after celebration of the Queen's day. Price very high and even in the afternoon when a regular check-in was schedule receptionists were not able to provide us with our room. Given the price, one should expect the service to be at least on time when it's average quality.
“Nothng fancy, but adequate and clean. Nice location.”
The rooms by the canal are definitely a nicer view than those without. We had an inside room. We had 4 travelers, and our room could have fit 5, that's unusual for Amsterdam and it was clean. Nothing fancy, but we'd go there again if we planned a similar trip.
“Great Location with Total Lack of Service”
The front desk is totally non-service oriented and lacking in interpersonal skills. Arrival was handled miserably with double talk about readiness of rooms and hints that we did not pay enough to get a room before the check in time of 2. We were exhausted and finally after my husband tipped the rudest guy at the front desk we were given a room despite the proclaimers that none were ready. There are no clocks in the room and twice the hotel failed to give us our wake up calls resulting in loss of many hours of enjoyment of our environs. As Americans, we wondered if we were not welcome. There is no coffee in the rooms or lobby unless you are willing to pay. The shower is a nightmare and ends up in a flood in the small bathroom. The best way to characterize service is "indifference". Not once were we greeted when we returned to the hotel or asked about our stay. The location is devine and the room is clean and we got a good price. We loved Amsterdam and the next time we go back we will do everything to avoid staying there again

Canal Ring, Amsterdam, Netherlands: The classic Amsterdam image of stately canals, the Canal Loop is principally the Herengracht and Keizersgracht, lined with gracious tall 17th and 18th-century houses. Some of these are now museums, most notably the eccentric Kattenkabinet. The Amstel is a more down-to-earth waterway, lined with houseboats and famous for its classic muchphotographed Magere Brug (Skinny Bridge). The floating Flower Market is also a much-loved canal feature.
