Comfortable bed and linens. Room was a bit crowded. and hard to move around - barely room around the bed. Breakfast area was crowded. Carpet seemed old with spots. Some noise during the day due to current hotel construction. Within walking distance of the Central Station. Great concierge service.

The room smelled like mold and had stains all over the carpet. Property tried to cover mold smell with some sort of scented spray but did not work.

The hotel was under construction so it was a bit noisy! If I was a manager, I would give some perks to guests for their inconvenience like one free breakfast or something. The staff was great though and did everything in their power to make our stay comfortable. Hats off to the front desk person who took care of my stay and room. We even received a free bottle of wine and dessert to celebrate our anniversary. A big shout out to Ahmed and Laurens, the concierges, they were so willing to help make our stay more eventful! Tourist be aware, there are pick-pocketing going on on the public trams. This ruined part of our trip and we were not able to take exceptional pics with our IPhones.

The property is under construction, making it impossible to sleep off the jet lag. Not great if you need to take a mid day nap. I am sure once it is finished it will be nice but for the price it is terrible. Also the water temps were never consistent. The price wasn't great. And there was no view, unless you consider the construction a "view".

Not great due to renovations
The hotel is currently under going renovations which means there is a lot of noise during the day leading to a confusing layout of the hotel, no real bar or coffee area which is a shame. The hotel needs the renovation but when booking via Hotel.com it would have been nice to have been notified as I would not have booked. The rooms are in need of the renovation. Not the best Renaissance hotel I've stayed in.

I love Amsterdam
Hotel under major renovation, hard for Uber to access drop off and no tv service. Hotel was clean & perfect location. All staff except Michael at check in were outstanding. Concierge, Achmed & check in associate Guiermo go above and beyond for ALL guests, they are wonderful. Take Drift Away with Capt. Jack cruise, concierge can arrange for you, it's FABULOUS!!!!

The hotel tried to give us an inferior room even though we had paid for a better room. Then they said “we don’t have any left”. After a bit of arm twisting one showed up.

While they warned about the construction, the hotel looks very different from what’s expected. While outdated is fine, we could hear every word the people in the next room were saying, our room had so many fruit flies the second we walked in. We did not bring any food to the room. Our phone didn’t work in the room so i was unable to call for towels and had to walk all the way downstairs to get them. The gym is a conference room. I checked in early and the man was very nice and helpful but the room wasn’t ready. I came back a few hours later and the woman said they didn’t have a record of me. She then did find my room but then couldn’t find my luggage i had stored earlier. When the luggage was finally found there was no one to help me with my bags. The location is good but overall would not stay there again during the renovation.

Avoid this hotel
I really think this hotel should be closed until the building work has been completed. Rooms dirty and needs updating shower curtain very cheap and carpets very dirty and full of stains. Air con did not work Tv did not work because of an issue to do with the hotel having work done. Dirty plates all over the corridor when going to room the same plate still there from friday when we checked out on sunday despite telling the staff about it, this hotel is not 5 stars and therefore it should reflect in the price as its a lot of money to pay for a room thats not up to scratch

Disappointing overall
What was once an amazing hotel is currently a bit of a dissapointment. Understand they are renovating to improve the hotel but the rooms offered were not in line with the £300 we paid. The room and bed request were ignored and no offer to help with bags considering how far away the room was from the entrance. No mini Bar, nearest place to buy drinks was over 15 minutes walk room to exit. The makeshift cafe areas they had around the hotel were not open when the signs said they would be so were not much use. Much better service in Hotel De Hallen where we stayed earlier in the week. This hotel was meant to be a treat due to cost and location. Unfortunately it was a massive disappointment. Would not recommend booking again until after 2024 when these works are completed.

Be more transparent with customers
The hotel is under construction. The street in front of the hotel is under construction. The wifi was as slow and dropping put. No mention of this when I was booking. You need to disclose this to your customers. Not a 5 star at all. Maybe 2 or 3 at the most.

Hello Ricardo, Thanks for your feedback. At this moment, the entrance to the hotel has been moved but we changed on internet and there are directions on how to go to the new entrance that is just behind the old one. Regarding the Wi-Fi, we are working to improve the service.

We were placed in a room with connecting doors. The guests in the connecting door room were not over noisy but you could here everything, like they were in the same room. Lifts were not working and no support offered, told to use the fire exit stairs.

The best thing about this hotel is its location, as it really is only a 3 minute walk from the train station, however there are more negatives than positives about this hotel. It is currently under renovation (which we were not made aware of at the time of booking), the gym was closed and all the gym equipment was in the bar area that was also closed but you walked through, to get to the breakfast area. A temporary reception had been put up as the main reception was also closed, and the staff weren't particularly helpful. The room was clean but unbelievably dark, we stayed there for 3 nights and we had to ask for the coffee to be refilled every day as well as the bottled water. We made a complaint about the room and the hotel to the manager as we had paid full price to stay at the hotel, even though its under renovation and all they gave us was complimentary access to the club lounge (not worth it). I would not stay here again, i'd recommend the Victoria Hotel, which we visited, the staff were friendly and from the reception and bar it looked a better class of hotel. I would NOT recommend the Renaissance hotel

Hotel is not near to Amsterdam Centraal station, still need a fair bit of walking. Ibis hotel is much nearer. -Hotel room is not big -Toilet is so old, more like a 3stars hotel -Front staff are not so friendly and helpful -morning breakfast dishes no change for 6 days

Not all Check in staff are Friendly or helpful, service should be with a smile and they should greet all guests if they are free when entering. Club lounge staff absolutely amazing as always - she is the best and this is why we come back! Breakfast staff are good & friendly including waitress Rooms could be refurbished as they are now looking old and tired as well as the dated bathrooms. Bath towels are very small and need to be bigger and fluffy. It’s a good hotel that just requires some updating

Shabby hotel, superb breakfast
WE BOOKED A CLUB ROOM AND were given a standard room. The corridors were very messy and dirty, the bed ruffled and the room smelled. I complained and then was given a clean room but not a club room. the corridors were all dirty. The club room was very poor with large trip hazard rips in the carpets (dangerous) and very saggy old seating. Carpets were also badly torn in hotel lounge. A very poor buffet. In contrast breakfast in the dining room was superb.

Not what we booked
The room we booked through Hotels.com was not available. We booked an accessible room with a king bed. They tried to put us in a twin room, after pointing out this was not what we had booked they put us in a room with 2 queen beds but it wasn't accessible. This made our stay very difficult. We will not be using Hotels.com again, as a wheelchair user we always book early and this was very disappointing.Unable to wash or shower properly for a week spoilt the short getaway.
