Listed as 'pet friendly' but it's not

Posted Jan 12, 2015
Cons: Poor customer service by front desk and the manager. They should show more empathy and willingness to help resolve customer issues.
When I booked this hotel was listed in the pet friendly category. It didn't have any special conditions listed. In the booking comment I let them know I would be coming with my dog. When I arrived they informed me that their policy was that pet owner's had to be with their pet in the room at all times. This is obviously not a 'pet friendly' hotel policy, and since I was on vacation wasn't going to work. They said they had this policy in their online T&Cs but I looked and couldn't find this anywhere, nor could they find where it was. They kept saying it was my fault for not knowing about their policy somehow, and they were not very helpful or sympathetic and told me I could book elsewhere but they would still charge me for 1 night's stay. I went to the lobby to book another hotel, and the manager approached me to let me know that as a customer service gesture they would not charge me for the cancelled reservation. While that was at least something, it seemed liked the bare minimum in the circumstances. I noticed in the next few days they changed their policies and now said 'no pets allowed'. I didn't get to see much about the hotel otherwise, but I wasn't at all impressed by their customer service.

Proprio su piazza Dam!

Posted Jan 11, 2015

Prima basishotel midden in de stad.

Posted Jan 4, 2015
Dichtbij de Dam, veel bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand. Goed ontbijt. Onze kamer lag aan de binnenplaats, dus rustig. Geen hotelbar, wel automaat voor fris, koffie enz. Erg gemakkelijk was de bagageopslag!

Better than it looks by far, and reasonable value.

Pros: Location, and staff.Everything you might want to visit Amsterdam for is on your doorstep. Shops, attractions, museums, red light district....
Cons: Room size and layout. Our room seemed to be in the roof with the ceiling very low on one side of the room but still good.
Location: It's all there on your doorstep but still nice and quiet and trouble free at night.
Booked for its location which was excellent. Staff very helpful, attentive, and friendly. Food very good, Rooms spotlessly clean. What's not to like? The only slight concern was our room was very small and poky.

excellent location 2 mins walk from Dam Square.

Pros: Excellent value given the location. Perfectly warm clean room and ensuite spotless. Breakfast was more than you could want. Free WiFi worked great
Cons: only 1 tiny waste bin in the bathroom , could do with another in the room. tea/coffee making in the room would have been a bonus.
Location: 2 mins walk to Dam Square , great markets and shopping close by . max 30 min walk to almost all museums. 20-30 restaurants within 10 min walk.
have been to Amsterdam on many visits and chose this hotel for a 5 day visit to explore some museums not been to before. All the staff were very friendly and helpful as is normal with Dutch people. We drove there from the UK and chose to park at the hotel for 35 Euro a night. There is a cheaper option to park by the Railway station for 10euro a night but preferred the security of the hotel on this occasion. We wrapped up warm against the December chill and had a wonderful stay sightseeing and some shopping.

Great location

Posted Dec 9, 2014
Pros: Location, value and cleanliness.
Cons: Be aware that a European double bed is a bit tight for two -- it really is a double, not a Queen. Lighting in the room was a bit dim.
Location: Right in the center of old Amsterdam. Everything is near by or a short tram ride.
Right off Dam Square, walking distance to the central Railway Station and near many museums. My room on the backside did not have much of a view but was quiet. Architecture of the lobby is beautiful. Staff speak English.

Excellent location

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: Location
This hotel is on a side street beside Dam Square. A great location to explore a walking city. It's an old renovated building so the room layout and stairs are a little funky. We had a huge triple room with a large bathroom. It was a little spartan but perfectly adequate as we were out most of the day. Breakfast was plentiful if a little short on variety. Conrad Hilton once said there are three things one requires for a hotel. 1. location 2. location and 3 location. The Rho has it.
