Having stayed at several city centre hotels in Amsterdam, the Sofitel is by far the best. Very good value, excellent location and the most comfortable beds in the world. I will be back soon

“Happy Christmas in Amsterdam”

Easyjet cancelled our intended flight but an e-mail to the hotel resulted in a prompt and courteous reply. Staff were pleasant and professional and a problem with our TV was dealt with efficiently while we were out. Room generous by Amsterdam standards and the bed was excellent! Tea-making facilities were useful and the temperature ideal (snow outside). Very convenient location, 5 minutes from Central Station so good for conmnecting to airport or for day trips. Downside - breakfast seemed pricey though we didn't sample, bathroom basin a bit crazed. Minor points really. Would happily go back.

Everything was in easy walking distance. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful vacation in a charming hotel.

“Pure Luxury”

Very welcoming hotel with a luxurious room. Sauna/fitness suite which can be used by 2 people is complimentary and well worth an hour out of your schedule. They even look after your bags for the rest of the day when you've checked out!

“Would definately go back”

The only problem we encountered was in the morning (Christmas Day) we found there was no hot water coming from our shower, we rang reception who sent up a maintenance man, he could not fix the problem so we were moved to another room. In both rooms the only thing I think could be improved on is the cleanliness of the sink, they look stained and the water drained out very, very slowly. When I removed the plug to see if this would improve the flow it was very dirty.

“A great hotel for the price...if you want to splurge a bit”

This hotel was much better than I expected for the price per night. The room size was small, but bigger than most "European style" rooms that I had stayed in the past. My girlfriend and I were able to move around and put our bags in the corner. The beds were very comfortable and there was kind of an "artsy aristocratic" feel about the hotel that was pleasant. Now, the room is a very good price if you keep it to the bare minimum. Don't even look at the mini bar or watch television (who would want to watch television while on vacation?) unless you are willing to pay a big price. They staff will offer you breakfast, which is very expensive in the hotel lobby. However, there is a wonderful crepe place with decent prices. To get there, step out of the hotel, go left and walk for about 5 minutes. Having said all that, you are within real walking distance to many of the things that people go to Amsterdam to see. Also, there is a tram station right across the street and another one about a minute to the right that will take you to anywhere you want to go. The staff was very pleasant and friendly making sure they said "hello and how are you" every time we came or went. Also, they take their time in helping you find places that you want to go and even write down instructions. The hotel is located not too far from the train station and one could easily walk there from Central Station in 7-9 minutes with baggage. All in all, a great hotel to stay in for the price.

Rooms are small but very clean, quiet and comfortable. Excellent location, close to train station, canal boat tours and Dam Square.
