Lovely family setting close to Anchorage

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: A gracious hostess who thought of everything to make our stay a delight.
Cons: signage, which is NOT the proprietress's fault.
Location: Anchorage is about an hour away. The Matanuska-Sutsitna (Mat-Su) valley is known for its wildlife, agriculture, and scenic beauty.
Our room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The owner was there to welcome us on our arrival and our home cooked, next-morning breakfast was waiting for us in the room.

wonderful!

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: location, cleanliness
Cons: could use more breakfast.. or a central location to get your own breakfast as opposed to storing it in the firdge
spotlessly clean, comfortable b&b in a beautiful location! the only reason i took off one star is for breakfast - we essentially got one omlette and a slice of banana bread for 2 adults.. it was really good but a bit less for 2 adults.

Great stay but breakfast could be better

Posted Jun 17, 2014
Cons: Breakfast
Overall great experience. Since it was a B&B I was expecting a nice breakfast. But they had kept prepackaged snacks in the fridge. The portion sizes were modest. We had bananas, granola, juice on one day and muffins, granola, hardboiled eggs and juice the other. (1 item of each per guest) Would have been nice if the breakfast portion sizes were better. Everything else was almost perfect.

Comment from Karen Harris, owner: Thank you for your review, Beverly. Since we built our cottages, we’ve been in an in-between area with how we do our breakfasts. Now we are proud to announce we’re building on again! We will be debuting our new Breakfast Hall in the fall of 2014. Once that is completed, we will be welcoming all our guests from our cottages and apartments to join us for a full, hot breakfast served buffet style, between 7:30-9:30 each morning. We are thrilled that this will offer many more food choices, and once again we’ll have a place for our guests from around the world to meet and chat over breakfast!

Great Place

Posted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: No Suggestions
Location: Palmer is a beautiful area quite close to Anchorage. There are hikes and nature abounding in the area.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful B and B. Our room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and wished we could stay longer.

This is a tough place to find but nice once you do

Posted Jun 11, 2014
Cons: more hot water for shower
Nicely decorated a little noisy from the highway, our cottage was actually one half of a mobile home it was ok but the individual cottages looked nicer. Shower not great limited hot water, not quite what I expected for the cost.

Comment from Karen Harris, owner: Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We have several choices among our B&B apartments and cottages, from less expensive in our older units to our brand new ones with premium views and amenities. We will heed your advice and continue to check on competitor pricing, to make sure we are offering good value for a unit like yours with full kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and private entrance. So far we haven’t found any others locally that can beat that for $129 per night, but we appreciate your feedback and will do our best to keep at the top of visitors’ choices for lodging!

Perfect for a relaxing get away

Posted Apr 28, 2014
This is no five star hotel-it's very low key and humble. So don't come in expecting a high class room with a bunch of large hotel amenities. It's more like a mini home and it has the atmosphere of a childhood home. It was exactly what my husband and I were looking for for a relaxing get away! You get a whole little cottege to yourself, so you have a lot of privacy. The staff was friendly and left you alone to just enjoy yourself. I would definitely recommend to friends.

pleasant B and B near Palmer and Wasilla, Alaska

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Spacious quarters, cleanliness, easy access
Cons: Perhaps, the food could be more fresh, delivered in the morning; perhaps updating the media
Location: Alaska outdoors with hiking, fishing, big mountain views, biking, wildlife nearby
The view from the living room was good and moose and fox were on the grounds. The breakfast was delivered to the fridge the day before and was quite filling. The TV offerings were limited and the set itself dated. You had a full kitchen for food preparation but washing the dishes was a bit cramped. The owner Karen was very forthcoming and helpful. The room seemed on the cold side although a heater could be used to add warmth and cheer. There was some highway noise from below and some construction noise as she was working on the unit next door for the coming season. Parking was conveniently near the room

Thank you for sharing your experience with future guests! We have good news to share, that in just a couple of months, we will have completed new construction of a Breakfast Hall as part of our new Lodge building. This means guests can come to the Breakfast Hall to enjoy a delicious hot buffet breakfast like we used to serve within our B&B/home, before our cottages were built in 2009. It has been convenient to offer breakfast within guests’ private refrigerators, but this traveler’s comment is correct that it has been a challenge for us to make it super fresh but yet not wake people early in the morning. Soon guests will have the benefit of a hot, home-cooked breakfast from 7-9:30 a.m.! Also, now all our televisions are flat-screen, as we are constantly striving to be as current as our customers wish. Each unit also offers individual temperature control, as this traveler mentions, so it can be set to your comfort. Sorry it was dusty while you were here! We do get quite a bit of glacial dust off the Knik Glacier nearby, so though we dust each unit thoroughly when we clean, we’ll try to do better with that!
