“More like staying with family only BETTER”

Tonya was so nice she was like family. It was better than any place I have ever stayed. Beat the Princess in Fairbanks HANDS DOWN, A return is a must. I know Alaska is a once in a lfe time trip for most, I wanna go back ASAP. Wasilla is the dimond of Alaska's beauty.

Area recommendations

WASILLA, FAIRBANKS, SEWARD, ANCORAGE, TALKEENA. I was not happy with Whittier. Whittier just a trap. The rest of Alaska is great place to visit. Beauty of the mountains. We tried to do it all in two weeks needed a month.

Talkeetna is a must see. A step into the past

Sticker shock. Food prices are high whether at the store or resturant. Be prepared

“Just stay away - A bad experience and a funny story”

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Wasilla. I stayed at the hotel with my sons for a guys fishing weekend in Alaska. The hotel staff was very friendly - I enjoyed talking with the team at the front desk. The quality of the hotel left a lot to be desired. We booked two rooms at the hotel. In both of the rooms, the temperature was so hot - that we had to run the (noisy) air conditioner all the time to make it bearable. The faucets leaked, burners on the stove did not fit correctly, the fans and lights above the stove did not work and the (uncomfortable) hide-a-bed broke during our stay. The last night we were there - the lock on the bathroom door broke - while I was inside. The owner of the hotel was the one who finally was able to get me out of the bathroom. At this point, I was just laughing at the situation (and my sons were laughing at me). It would have been OK, until we had a discussion with the owner. When we showed him some of the other issues in the room, it became a very uncomfortable situation. Essentially, was told that they had a high occupancy rates and that they had a good hotel - as such, I have no confidence of any improvements to the property. Do go fishing in Alaska - just don't stay at this property.

“Secret Treasure”

There were a couple negative postings about this hotel so I was not sure what I would find. This was a perfect, cozy little treasure and I will go back for work often - it's my new favorite spot! Clean, more like apartment style with just 2 floors - more like a Mom & Pop style place than a big hotel - and it had everything I needed. Yes, there is not a 'front desk' person there overnight but the place is secure with door locks. The person in charge was very pleasant and made sure I had everything I need. The room had a kitchenette and huge TV, spotless, extra pillows and blanket in the closet - it was just marvelous. Absolutely no complaints!

“Not overly impressed”

Altho the hotel looks fairly nice from the outside the inside needs some serious cleaning....... I can only assume that it was a smoking hotel at one time or perhaps turns into one during the winter months, but the smell was still very very strong. When you turn on the air conditioner, the smell is even worse. For that purpose alone I cannot suggest it to others who are looking for a place to stay. It is also located on a main street with quite a bit of traffic and little sound proofing which would overpower the TV and then hard to go to sleep to.

“Select Inn Review”

The room was comfortable and clean. Just that I felt like it was an apartment building. The one and only staff person was very friendly and helpful. But, again, it was like a short term apartment stay.

Area recommendations

We took a side trip to Hatcher Pass and Independence Mine. Very scenic and full of history. The Little Susitana River led us there.
