Affordable Anchorage

Posted Jul 1, 2015
Pros: Clean, Comfortable, Wi-Fi, Easy access to food, shopping, on-site laundry machines, and public transportation
Cons: Bunk bed ladders not the easiest to use.
Location: Midtown Anchorage. Near bus stops, Walmart, variety of restaurants. Downtown Anchorage 10 minute bus-ride away. Anchorage Museum is a must see.
On recent Sierra Club Outing, I spent five nights (two on the front end, three after the outing) at the Bent Prop Inn & Hostel - Midtown in a shared room. Two bunk beds, front room with sofa & easy chair, complete kitchen, and TV (with limited cable). Four blocks to Walmart and city bus service. Near restaurants. Recommend Leroy's, open 24/7, simple menu, easy walk and easy on the wallet. Oh, and on top of all the amenities, BPI has Wi-Fi. If you want a clean place to stay and friendly environment this is your kind place at a very reasonable rate. Thanks BPI for making Anchorage affordable and comfortable.

Great Hostel Experience

Posted Aug 18, 2010
This is a very well run hostel - friendly, curteous and efficient service - one of the best hostel experiences I have had. But remember that it is a hostel with multiple bunks per room. Don't book if you think you are getting a private motel/hotel room.
