“What I expected from a Marriott”

It was what I expected from a Marroitt and there is a nice diner in the hotel with a good selection on the menu.

“Convenient Location”

Convenient location for people taking a float plane out of Lake Hood. Hotel provided a shuttle.

“Great Near Airport Hotel”

We were here very briefly, just the night we got into Anchorage. It was perfect because it is less than 5 minutes from the airport. Check in was painless and quick (thank God since it was after midnight), as was check out the next day. Good breakfast selection at the cafe next to the lobby. I also just really like the way the king size rooms are set-up (bed facing window vs. wall).

Area recommendations
Anchorage is a nice little city, it's worth walking around the downtown area. Anchorage Musem was very good. Restaurants to check out are Club Paris and Humpy's. Also for nice views of the city get out of town and drive up to the Hillside neighborhood.
What to pack
Anchorage can be cold and rainy in the summer, and it can also be warm and sunny and in the 70s. We experienced both summer extremes, so make sure you pack for both.

“A nice anchorage in Anchorage”

Very friendly staff. Very clean. Even had a little place to eat. Conveniently located near airport. Provided free shuttle to and from airport and railroad. Highly recommended.

“good enough for airport convenience in a blue collar neighborhood”

Due to cleanliness of area food offerings and loudness and disregard for customers we'd suggest getting your meals in a different area of Anchorage. We are not above fast food but did not find anything with service or mvery clean. Downtown is close enough and has good choices. Hotel more than sufficient. Great mattresses.

Area recommendations
Downtown has some good restaurants and a variety of options. Great Anchorage Museum downtown as well. Hike and bike trail right along the bay accessed downtown.
What to pack
Quick dry and layers (fleece, pants from REI), bring rain jacket. This even for summertime. Unpredictable weather but a fantastic vacation.

“Way too noisy!!”

The hotel was okay except that the first room they gave me was next to the elevator and it constantly rumbled, loudly. They moved me to another room, which was nice enough, except that somebody in the room above me tromped around until 2 AM and was up again about 5:30. Add to that the constant noise from float planes on Lake Spenard (nothing sounds quite like the supersonic prop tips on a Cessna 185 during takeoff!!) as well as jets coming and going from Ted Stevens Airport,, well. you get the picture. Granted this was June with long daylight and that's floatplane season, but regardless, there are much better choices for a place to stay.

“Nice for a late arrival from the airport”

Very smooth transition from the airport to the hotel. Nice accomodations. They also helped with transferring us to our rendezvous spot for the tour/cruise the next day.

“Warm welcoming staff”

Everyone at this hotel was so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was great, and the business center was a real asset.

“Home away from Home”

Slept great! Ate well! Hotel staff will help you make arrangements for any side tours. Rate wasn't bad either! Will definitely stay here again.

Area recommendations
Downtown. In the summer they have a tour and, if you're lucky you can see a moose on the loose!
Getting around
If you don't want to drive or use the huskies, you can always get a cab. I prefer YellowCabs because they accept credit cards.
