Great hotel, good location and landmark!

Posted Sep 2, 2014
Pros: Really nice d├ęcor, clean rooms, fairly-priced room compared to others in Downtown area and during Labor Day weekend.
Cons: The noise level was a bit off-putting. My room faced 5th Avenue, so road noise was noticeable. Family next door was loud--not Sheraton's fault.
Location: Very close to 5th Avenue Mall and good restaurants; the Sheraton's in a very good location in the Downtown area.
I was in Anchorage just one night. My stay at the Sheraton was fantastic. Really nice and friendly staff and a very clean, lovely room. This tall building serves as a great landmark for the directionally-challenged among us--whether driving or walking you can spot the Sheraton if you're in Downtown area.

A preferred Starwood Hotel DaYou Think????

Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: Not much The food was terrible The service terrible
Cons: Everything especially the attitudes of the employees and to have the hotel in working order
Location: Location is good Thers the wonderful museum shopping and restaurants
I We were not impressed with the hotel at all The first night we arrived slept and checked out The room was okay but for the price we werent impressed. On the 29th we had a 105 AM flight and arrived in the mid day. We asked for a bellman as we had lots of stuff to condense as we were leaving One never came and we carried our luggage and cases to the room Then we went to print our boarding passes as the computer and the printer didnt work so finally after asking many times the res gal did them Afterwards around 12AM we decided to get something to eat at the bar . Our flight was slightly delayed. We ordered a panini sandwich It came on grilled white bread dripping in Grease with one slice of turkey and cheese with a slice of tomato. We didnt have time to send it back to the kitchen In short it was disgusting. In summary the people in the hotel have no pride of working there and they are not pleasing to their guests. I will call starwood and suggest that they take it off their preferred list. I owned a travel agency for 4 years and Ive stayed all over the world in many different hotels. I definitely think its needs a lot of work and very pricey for what you get I would never reccomend this hotel to anyone Susan D Singer

Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Room was very comfortable. The hotel kept our fish frozen for us even after check out since our flight was scheduled for twelve hours later.

Very nice, convenient location to downtown

Posted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: Warm, welcoming atmosphere and helpful staff.
Cons: Oddly, there is no gift shop for incidentals, just a very small room with a limited selection of very basic items.
Location: Close to downtown, shopping and good restaurants.
Very much enjoyed our stay. Convenient location downtown, yet only 10 minutes from airport. Very clean, comfortable room. Every single staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and helpful, including the desk clerk who retrieved a corkscrew for us from his personal vehicle when housekeeping was out of them. Beautiful views from the upper floors...one could even see Mt. McKinley when it was out. Highly recommend!

Hotel policies over guest needs.

Posted Jun 14, 2014
Cons: Front desk staff. Complimentary breakfast. Free Wireless.
Location: Location was too far from downtown shopping and tourist area.
We booked this higher priced room thinking only of some additional comfort for our last night in Alaska. We arrived a bit earlier in the day than we expected and, having been accommodated at other places, thought we might be able to check in earlier than the 3:00 check-in time. No way. Even when we checked back at 2:30, no dice. It's not like they were up there polishing the place up until then. The cleaning staff were nowhere in sight. We fell asleep in the lobby until they finally said ok. It's located on the edge of downtown rather than right downtown and felt like it was bordering on the wrong side of town. It wasn't exceptional in any way. The person who checked us in had relatively poor people skills for the job. The room may not have seemed so disappointing if our check-in had been a little more friendly and welcoming. We expected to get something for the higher cost of the room but ended up feeling nickel and dimed. No breakfast and paying for Wireless service. The room itself was a standard hotel room. There was a really loud industrial fan noise that was constant and rather unpleasant. We could barely hear the TV over it. The creamers for the coffee had curdled. A sign across the road said "Shame on Sheraton!" We wondered why at first. It was related to some political issue but we left feeling a little that way for our own reasons.

Dear Lynne, Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for posting a review from your visit. I want to sincerely apologize for not being able to check you into the room early. While we are often unable to check guests in early due to sold out situations the night before, we should have done a better job of communicating the situation to you and worked with our housekeeping team to get a room ready for you. I can promise you that we do learn from our mistakes. I have already shared your experience and comments with our entire management team (in an educational and constructive manner) so that we can grow as an organization and learn not to repeat our errors. We appreciate your choosing to stay with us. I am very sorry we let you down. Take care. Jon Kranock - GM
