Beautiful Alaska wilderness hotel

Posted Sep 20, 2014
The hotel is beautiful. I had stayed there several times. They gave us a free room upgrade and free tram tickets on check-in. Food is very expensive in the hotel. But we found a nice place to eat breakfast offsite that was reasonable. We had some trouble with the heat. But they took care of it. Also the hairdryer did not work. That was not rectified. Bed is very comfortable. The pool and hot tub are the best ever.

Honeymooners

There is an impressive amount of quality, care, and beauty the Hotel Aleyeska displays, and if you're planning to visit Anchorage, I whole heartedly recommend this hotel. The area is idyllic. The staff are courteous and friendly. The amenities abound. The hotel is 45 minutes east of Anchorage and is within 45 minutes of Whittier (day cruises, which I highly recommend), within 2 hours of Seward (I also recommend), and 3 hours of Homer (I didn't get a chance to visit). There are many hiking trails around the hotel. Inside, they have shops, restaurants, lounge areas with wifi, and a tram to the top of the mountain. It was an overall great experience.

great hotel located in the wood, great views.

Pros: Location, atmospere.
Cons: wifi in the rooms. its a very high end facility, and wifi would be a great addition to the rooms.
Location: Location in the trees away from the highway was very appealing. Hiking, biking and sight seeing are right there.
Was our first stay here. Had a great time hiking the trails, near the hotel as well as hiking the top trails after riding the tram up. The food was great, as was the entire experience. Looking forward to staying there again soon!

Mountain Resort

Pros: Upbeat, efficient, knowledgeable, helpful staff. Beautiful lobby areas.
Location: Tramride to the top of the mountain in summer. Skiing in winter. Hiking trails nearby. Animal Conservation Center not too far away.
This hotel behaves like a resort hotel -- very prompt, efficient and pleasant staff. Beautifully decorated lobby areas and very good access to the tramway -- and you get a free tram ride if thehotel reserves a table for you at the restaurant at the top of the ride. Unfortunately, our room had a few difficulties -- which they tried to remedy: One window (Out of 2) would not open and the thermostat/heating did not work.. The room was not unpleasantly cold (and the staff said they were adjusting the heating remotely -- but we were not able to adjust it in the room. Also, we found the restaurants (we did not eat in the Japanese one) to be rather average. At the Aurora the food was only OK and the main course arrived when we had just barely begun the appetizer. All through this, the staff everywhere were excellent.

Excellent hotel. Pool and spa are wonderful after a week of hiking. Worth the price if you can swing it. Food is also excellent.

Nice resort

Pros: Comfortable and good price for being a last minute reservation
Cons: More moderately priced dining options
Location: Portage Glacier area
We made a last minute reservation at the Hotel Alyeska and found it to be a very nice and comfortable place to stay. Was disappointed that there were not more moderately priced options available for dining.

Pros: Great place to stay. H
Location: Great hotel convenient to both Anchorage and Seward. Lots of thing to do in area.
Good deal through Expedia for two nights and a car. We added this on as independent travel after a land/sea cruise.
