Views from the summit encompass the city, the Chugach Mountains, Cook Inlet, and Turnagain Arm.
Outfitters in Anchorage offer fishing adventures to the backcountry via seaplane. The Alyeska Resort, about 40 miles from downtown, has 1,000 acres of deep, pristine snow for downhill skiing and snowboarding.
