Listed as hotel, more like motel

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: Newer, modern look.
Cons: The caulk around the showers showed signs of mold and the gap at the front door was a concern.
Location: Location was 8 miles from the university which was key. There is a Big Boy next door with specials for guests.
Check in was a breeze, very pleasant staff. It is less than 10 miles from the University of Michigan which was key for us. The unit air conditioner was loud, however it did drown out the noise from the outside. There was a large gap in between door and door frame, could see the outside. The bathrooms are extremely small and low ceilings, would not recommend for a large person or someone over 6'2".

Cheap, but you get (less than) what you pay for

Posted May 19, 2015
Pros: convenient location
"non-smoking" room is a joke: it was obvious that the room had been smoked in multiple times and no effort had been made to freshen it. Windows could not be opened. Air quality was abysmal. Alternate room offered had the same problem. noise from neighboring rooms was easily heard.

Inexpensive, clean, reasonably furnished

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: - Rooms reasonably sized, clean, and well furnished - Near highway exit - Eateries and shopping nearby - Free Big Boy breakfast
Cons: - Move smokers away from the building - Use different cleaning products - Followup with customers on their stay
Location: The location off the highway was handy for getting around town. There was a tasty Korean eatery nearby which I enjoyed visiting.
This is a decent little motel, but there are definitely some areas in need of improvement which I'm calling out below. Air quality: While the rooms were non-smoking I encountered people who smoked on the narrow walkway outside. Hence, I still had to walk through smoke and some got into the room going in and out. I recommend that they push smokers back further from the building. Whatever cleaning products are used in the rooms are smelly as well. This could be a hazardous place for the chemically sensitive. Staff: As far as the staff goes the front desk was a bit overwhelmed when we arrived. We had to wait 20 minutes for them to complete the room cleaning and the floors were wet when we got into the room. However, they were responsive to requests the couple of times we made them. I was expecting them to ask about my stay at checkout but there was no followup.

Excellent stay; quick access

Desk people were polite and competent; short stay, so didn't have much time for experience. Nice having the Big Boy attached and the $3.50 discounts for my wife and I.

stayed to visit UMich campus

Posted Apr 28, 2015
The hotel is close to highway 23. The room was clean but small and the bathroom was even smaller. There are several eateries and groceries on the way to campus. Used a rental car to drive back and forth as it was a bit far from campus.
