Marriott's poor treatment, and charge errorsPosted Oct 30, 2013
My room was paid in full by Expedia prior to arrival which I explained to Kelly the night attendant. I also showed all proof of such on my large smart phone screen. She took my bank card and made multiple swipes on that card freezing $100.00 of my bank funds, yet Mariott's policy for paid rooms at this location per Kelly the attendant is one $20.00 hold. The room was not stocked with the amenities that are to be included. I contacted Marriott's main customer service the following morning and was treated poorly. They did not care less that they improperly took my money and that it would be held for some time by the bank rendering my own money unavailable to me. That is $100.00 of my own money I can not touch for gas and food and I am a single mother of 2 girls. I was in disbelief when I expressed what an injustice this was to me and I was simply told I would be contacted in a week by Marriott. Disgusting CustomerTreatment due to Marriott's staff not doing her job properly. My young dauhters and I are made to suffer by Marriott who could not care less and have not made one move to right their wrongs!!!

I'll be back!Posted Oct 24, 2013
Pros: Beds were comfortable, room was clean, pool area was clean and pool was comfortable.
Cons: Speak ENGLISH!!!
This was my first stay at the Marriott Towneplace Suites in Ann Arbor, MI. It is conveniently located at Briarwood Mall, right off I-94, walking distance (OK, about a mile walk) to the University of Michigan Stadium. I stayed in a small suite, but it had a well-equipped kitchen, dining area, king-sized bed and bath. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and fairly quiet. The staff, for the most part, were friendly and helpful. I did have an issue with a man who appeared to be a housekeeping or maintenance supervisor. I had my do-not-disturb sign on the door and when he saw me in the hall, he asked if I wanted housekeeping. I said NO, not necessary. But he didn't seem to understand English. Then he said the air conditioning maintenance people would be going into my room that day. I requested that NOBODY enter my room. Again, he acted like he didn't understand English. My advice to the hotel is that they need to have customer-facing employees who speak the primary language of the community, which in this case is ENGLISH!! Other than this minor issue, I was quite pleased. I used the pool and hot tub and they were also clean and the pool chemicals were well-balanced. This is not often the case in other hotels in the area. The pool area even has pool toys available for the kids, which I thought was a nice touch, even though I don't have kids. I recommend this hotel.

Impressed!Posted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
We are a family of 4 adults and 1 child - the room given was spacious and clean. The hotel is fairly new so even the pool and fitness room was very well maintained. Breakfast was nice with the waffle station. Location is good, right next to the mall and few minutes drive from downtown. Would definitely stay here again!

new hotel with excellent staff, rooms adequatePosted May 7, 2013
Pros: free breakfast, staff, full kitchen, nice new facilities. laundary pool and spa were nice as well.
Cons: See chairs above
We had expected (our fault) that Suites meant two rooms. In this case it means a full kitchen but only one room. the kitchen was very nice and probably made up for not having a suite in the sense that we believed. Staff were uniformly excellent, accommodating, etc. Free breakfast is always nice and this was good. The Computers available were less than average, in that they routinely were not able to effectively access servers or just logged out for unknown reasons. It is apparent that all the furniture is IKEA or IKEA like. A problem, in particular for anyone with less than adult hand strength (kids/seniors), is moving the various chairs around. Seems like a small thing but it became quite annoying in the room at the computer consoles, at breakfast. the chairs do not have any effect hand hold or bar to enable them to be moved, especially on carpet.
