Location: Great location right on Church Circle and downtown historic Annapolis by shops and restaurants.
Check in was a little unusual as you have to go to another location and then go back to your hotel. But the hotel staff makes it super easy. The valet staff is great!

Hello, Traveler. I am sorry our posting was not clear enough on our physical layout. We have worded very specifically that we have a central check in point and we then assist the guest from there to their building if it is not the Governor Calvert House. Regardless, we will revisit our wording and see what else might be done. I was delighted to read the valet parking team did a great job for you and will share that feedback too. We appreciate your business and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Thank you. Mike Radike General Manager

Location Location

Posted Aug 27, 2014
Location: State House, historic walk, great restaurants, easy parking
Nicely located for maximum walking to neat sites. Adequate facility, but not easy to understand where you are staying and how to get assistance when one is at the Maryland Inn. Very quaint for those that like quaint. I picked it for location and it served my purpose at a reasonable price for two days. For modest summer heat, room was a little stuffy. Bed comfortable, shower modern, and toilet worked.

Close to Downtown

Posted Aug 25, 2014
This was our first stay at one of The Maryland House Inns. The hotel was nice, valet parking was helpful and the staff were very friendly. We walked downtown which was convenient. There is coffee, fruit and a variety of bread products available for breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Cons: Room need a serious upgrade.
The staff were wonderful but the room need a redo. The bathroom was too small. The rug was torn and old. The air condition unit blew into our faces while sleeping. Unfortunate, because the location is ideal and the staff were excellent.

Historic hotel

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness and the staff which was friendly and eager to help you.
Cons: Add a small refrigerator and microwave plus cups and coffee for the rooms.
Location: This is located next to the old State house and is within walking distance of historic Annapolis and the Naval Academy.
The staff was friendly and the accommodations were adequate. The view was of a flat roof. There was no refrigerator or microwave. They didn't serve breakfast and there was no nearby parking. The location is in the heart of historic Annapolis, but I felt it was overpriced for the few amenities that it offered.

Dear Joe: Thank you for providing your feedback about your recent stay with us. I apologize that you did not have a great view; all of our buildings are located within the downtown historic district and it can be difficult to always provide a great view. We do serve breakfast in the Treaty of Paris restaurant located in the Maryland Inn; I am sorry you were not informed of this. You are correct that parking is a challenge in downtown. We overcome that with our valet parking program and routinely explain to our guests other options that exist. We appreciate your patronage and wish you the best in your future travels. Thank you. An historic hotel, badly in need of a manager.

Posted Jul 19, 2014
I stayed in the Maryland Inn in 1969, the day prior to entering the Naval Academy. I was very nervous then and didn't reveal too much about that one night. My wife and I thought it would be romantic to recreate that event and stayed there 4 nights. It was a terrible idea. We first went to the State Circle to register, then by shuttle to the Maryland Inn. The shuttle driver took out bags to our 4th floor room, and opened the door only using a security card only to find that the room was occupied. The occupant was in the shower and cried out 'who the hell is here!' Apparently the hotel group's computer system was down, so it double booked the room. We asked for and received a room on the 2nd floor. It was an 'historically' accurate room. By that I mean filthy. Carpet, drapes, inside door- all dirty. Worst of all was the shower. At least the bathroom seemed clean- till we ran the shower. The drain was clogged. No fun standing in rising water. We complained to the housekeeper who replied that we'd have to speak to the other hotel- on State Circle. We did just that, but upon returning that night the shower was still clogged. The hotel entrance was secured sfter 6:00 PM. Despite this a homeless man was seen inside the hotel entrance, reading a newspaper. If there was an on-site manager we never saw one. Better management might solve the many issues of the Maryland Inn, but until that happens I'd not recommend booking a room.

Dear Marc: Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am very sorry that you had such a disappointing experience. We did, in fact, suffer a catastrophic system failure with our computers in the last week and our team diligently worked to ensure the impact on nearly 200 of our guests was minimized. I am sorry that for you we failed to overcome that adversity. Regardless of our computer issue, however, your room should have been clean, the shower should have drained, and there should not have been a homeless person in the lobby. I will work to gain more insight on what you have told me and work with my team to correct these issues, sharing your comments with them. Thank you for taking the time to write; your feedback will help us to do better. Thank you. Mike Radike General Manager

Convenient, in heart of city, at historic inn

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Its in-heart-of city location - on Main St, within easy walking distance of most tourist interests.
Cons: Check-in place and inn place of stay NOT co-located, creating requirement for vehicle parking valet service whose working concept not fully explained.
Location: Main/side St. shopping, many restaurants w/some waterside, Naval Academy/Museum, City Museum, inner harbor strolling, touring State Capitol, et al.
Inn was historic, c1775. As such, lobby and rooms interesting. However, no on-site "front desk" which is otherwise at another location on State Circle. Thus, any emergent communication needs had to be effected via room or self phones, not in person, unless patron strolled to State Circle location. Room was relatively small and cramped given inn's age, though well maintained and clean, especially the very small bath rm. Room floor not level, again not a total surprise given inn's age, and suppose it added to its "nostalgic" sense. Vehicle valet parking requirement (w/added fee) a bit of inconvenience in that bag deliveries had to be conveyed by one's own vehicle together w/valet driver, i.e., on deposit at inn and again on pickup for check-out. Valet service could be used multiple times per day, though that increments the courtesy tipping costs. Multiple valet usage concept not initially explained on check-in.

Thanks, Ed, for the feedback. I am sorry you felt the valet parking service a "bit inconvenient." I hope we gave other options including 2 hour street parking, the public garage which charges for moving your car in and out, and the free state garage about 12 minutes away so that you had a couple of different choices to evaluate. I'm glad you enjoyed your location, which is the best. Have a great day and thanks for choosing us. Mike Radike General Manager

Comfortable Stay in a Central Location

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Proximity to sights, restaurants, and other entertainment
Cons: Better parking facilities would help. Coffee in the room would've been a big plus.
We had a very comfortable 2-day stay during the July 4th weekend. A 5-minute walk took us to the waterfront where we could watch the fireworks and to some great restaurants and other entertainment all right within Historic Annapolis. Right across the inn is the Maryland State House, a building with lot of history situated right in the middle of town. Rooms were clean and staff very friendly. Wish they had coffee in the rooms.
