Needs a new owner
Posted Jan 11, 2013
Pros: The patio and the view.
Cons: The owner, firm bed, and low water pressure.
Location: Hidden but well upkept
My boyfriend and I took this trip for my birthday. We stayed 4 nights and 5 days. There were some good things about this hotel, and other things I didn't prefer. The road to the hotel was long and rough. It took us about 10 minutes to drive down it in a non 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, they began filling in the biggest potholes the day before we left. The gate keepers were very nice. The hotel and grounds were well upkept. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our room. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the rocking chairs talking. The hotel says they have air conditioning. Our room had a window unit. We slept with it on at night (all windows & doors closed), but it leaked quite a bit. We told the hotel staff every morning. Our room was cleaned nicely each day. The bed was nice but very firm. One thing they don't tell you before you arrive: they will run your debit/credit card to hold $1,000. The biggest aspect of the hotel that influenced us the most was the Owner. He greeted us upon our arrival, but he seemed to express his opinion about us quite openly. It was not too kind. He seemed agitated every time we saw him, and we felt like he looked down on us. Because of him, we chose to eat at other resorts, enjoy other resorts' beaches, and book excursions through other resorts. The one excursion we did book through this hotel was the climb up Gros Piton. We were given a nice breakfast (to eat on the go), and our drivers were more than accommodating.

Pros: Staff, food, beach, snorkel crew, everything. Even loved the workout from the steps.
Location: Amazing! Away from it all. Quiet.
This hotel exceeded my expectations. We loved it. Great staff, food, and very quiet. Just what we were looking for.

The beauty of this hotel is astonishing! The staff hugged us when we left! Definitely spring for the cottage with pool we used it every day. Snokling is awesome but watch out for mini jellyfish! You feel special when you are here and soooo sad to leave!

Wouldn't change a thing

Pros: This wasn't a hotel, but a resort. The "rooms" were cabins or duplexes with long porches overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the shower was outside!
Cons: I would have preferred a different type of bed mattress, but that's just me. My girlfirend liked the mattress just fine.
Location: The location is about one mile from the main road, just above a secluded beach. We had a rental car, and took a few day trips around the island.
This resort was quite nearly perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. Most learned our names at our first meeting and greeted us by name whenever we saw each other. The place was very laid back but quite upscale. We visited needing a relaxing vacation and that is exactly what we received. The snorkeling from the beach was very good, which was one of the main reasons we chose this resort. When standing on the beach, the better snorkeling was to the left around the south side of the boat dock. The coral was in better shape and the fish plentiful. The snorkeling on the north side was good, but the coral was not in very good shape and a number of day excursions deposited their people over there, making for sometimes crowded snorkeling conditions.

Great romantic hotel for nature lovers

Pros: The friendly birds, the outside showers, the pool, spa, beach and the buffet breakfast!
Cons: Expensive evening meals which were gourmet style only.
Location: Beautiful, right on the hillside overlooking the sea.
Lovely hotel, really beautiful location, great beach and facilities, food expensive however, especially in the evenings.

Great intimate hotel with good food and wine.

Pros: Individual cabins set into the hill side.
Cons: The main bar was disapointing but the view is great.
Location: Quiet with great views.
A small hotel comprising individual cabins over looking the sea. Excellent beach bar. The main bar is the one let down. Very good food served by very friendly staff. The women will love the spa treatments. In short relaxing with excellent accommodation. The showers are open to the sky and include their own little gardens within them. You can just sit on your balcony and enjoy the view of the sea.

Wonderful views

Pros: The views from the hammock and the spa
Cons: Very hilly and lots of steps to the beach
Location: It is a long way down a very bumpy track, and there is nothing else close by. Lots of boats bringing tours to use the beach (which is public).
Excellent experience, great rooms with lovely views, nice beach and helpful staff. Bumpy journey down a long track is worth it!

Could be much better for the price

Pros: The beach and beach staff
Cons: The food and staff in general. The food was beyond average. We only had good meals at lunch time at the beach bar/restaurant.
Location: Location is ok-but needs a better restaurant and better staff to justify its remote location.
Our first impressions were good. From the outside, the hotel looked well maintained, clean and relaxing. However, that didn't last long. It took c30 minutes to check into the hotel-the waiting was unnecessary, particularly given we were the only guests to have arrived that morning. Secondly, we were not given a short tour nor an explanation of how things worked at the hotel eg..breakfast times, beach towels etc.. The room itself was good. Great size, air conditioned, great views of the ocean and lots of storage space. The only downside was that there was no tv, On rainy days a tv would have helped to pass the time. The major disapointment was with the standard of the food. As the hotel is in an isolated location, the standard of the quality of food served at dinner and breakfast needs to improve to justify its cost. Whilst some members of staff were very professional and friendly others were quite standoffish, rude and just highly unprofessional at times. For eg- shouting across the dining room to other memebers of staff; openly discussing their evening/xmas plans with each other in the dining room and ignoring guests.
